<h3>What we're looking for</h3>
<p>Asoba is seeking a software engineer with a passion for solving problems that come with climate change. In South Africa, the country faces regular power outages as a result of insufficient generating capacity from the grid to meet demand. We are developing virtual power plant software to create a marketplace for owners of embedded generation (solar panels and storage) to trade electricity in South Africa.</p>

<p>We are looking for someone who has a strong background in deploying ML models, working with GCP services, and delivering high quality UX to end-users. Your primary responsibilities will be to integrate our backend ML models into our existing front-end applications, help co-create the technical roadmap going forward, and manage the engineering team executing against front and back-end feature requests.</p>
<h3>Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>Strong back-end Python scripting skills</li>
<li>Working familiarity with Python ML libraries</li>
<li>Can deploy production infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform</li>
<li>Basic understanding of the energy industry, or a very strong desire to learn</li>
<li>Familiarity with agile/other software development management frameworks</li>

<h3>Interview Process</h3>
<p>Our interview process is fairly straightforward.&nbsp; An initial hiring screen, followed by a brief take-home technical screen, "meet the team" interview, and then offer if everything aligns.</p>

<h3>Compensation</h3>
<p>Initially this is a part time, contract role paid on a project or weekly basis with the opportunity to expand into a full time role.&nbsp; Equity is negotiable.</p>

<p>We help enterprises, commercial farmers, property developers, and municipalities build microgrids with battery storage to ensure 24/7 power. &nbsp;Then we provide virtual power plants to optimize the scheduling and dispatch of power within the microgrid. &nbsp;We monetize through software licensing baked into Power Purchase Agreements and by managing sales of excess power to local retail markets.</p>
