Tuesdays for Trash

Tuesdays for Trash is a grassroots environmental movement founded on 5 May 2020 by two friends and youth activists during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a world where hope was dimmed, society fell into panic and a major crisis loomed, the two were desperate to find a way to move forward and pave a path towards a cleaner and healthier future. It was after dedicating spare time to clean up their university’s park that both realized the possibilities at their fingertips. Picking up trash is a simple, safe, and effective way to practice environmental activism that anyone could do, anywhere in the world. So they launched the movement with the hopes of encouraging  individuals everywhere to dedicate time each week for our planet. Now #TuesdaysforTrash spans 6 continents with participants in 31 countries, 11 chapters and over 28,000 pounds of trash collected worldwide.
