Our world-class investors, <a href="https://www.maverickventures.com/">Maverick Ventures</a> and <a href="https://caffeinatedcapital.com/">Caffeinated Capital</a>, are aligned to our policy objectives and platform vision.</p><p style=""></p><h1>The Role</h1><p style="">Comity is looking for a Machine Learning Engineering Manager to lead a team developing our energy pricing models and working on their deployment in market-leading power contract origination strategies.</p><p style="">In this role, you'll be a hands on leader, working alongside your team and closely with our Quantitative Researchers to design and deploy models and optimization algorithms for participating in wholesale power markets, and ensure that they can scale to new markets and greater volume. You will help develop our data infrastructure and research platform, which give our researchers streamlined access to relevant data sources and powerful computing resources, as well as the confidence that their research will translate into real-world results. As an early hire in this role, you will have broad impact and ownership over our platform and framework design, research agenda, technology choices, and team culture.</p><p style=""></p><h1>We’re excited about you because:</h1><ul style=""><li><p style="">You have 8-12 years of experience developing machine learning models (or other predictive models) in an industry and/or academic setting.</p></li><li><p style="">You are aligned with an onboarding plan that includes some time as an individual contributor to learn our domain and context.</p></li><li><p style="">You have experience leading and mentoring ML engineers/researchers, software engineers, and/or data scientists.</p></li><li><p style="">You have a solid grasp of machine learning fundamentals and can read research results to understand operational requirements and assumptions.</p></li><li><p style="">You have experience with probabilistic forecasting models for multivariate time series and other structured data. Experience applying ML in financial settings or with graph and/or spatial data is a plus.</p></li><li><p style="">You are experienced and comfortable with the workflow to research and develop machine learning models and data mining algorithms, and working with distributed computing resources.</p></li><li><p style="">You are a lifelong learner and empathetic teacher. You will help extend our research platform with modeling capabilities that form the basis of our fundamental market analysis, and apply those capabilities to our research and development workflows. As an early hire in this role, you will have broad impact and ownership over our platform and framework design, research agenda, technology choices, and team culture.</p><p style=""></p><h1>We're excited about you because:</h1><ul style=""><li><p style="">You have a master's degree in Electrical Engineering plus 4+ years of experience in the electric power industry or a PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems engineering.</p></li><li><p style="">You have experience with power system modeling tools such as Dayzer, Tranzer, PowerWorld, PSS/E, Plexos, or open source alternatives like PyPSA. </p></li><li><p style=""> You have experience with power load and renewable power generation forecasting.</p></li><li><p style="">You are comfortable reading and writing Python code and have experience with collaborative software development.</p></li><li><p style="">You are knowledgeable about optimal power flow modeling, security constrained economic dispatch (SCED) algorithms, contingency analysis, and transmission shift and loss factors.</p></li><li><p style="">You have familiarity with modeling energy resources and storage as well as US power markets.</p></li><li><p style="">Knowledge or familiarity with optimization techniques such as convex, stochastic, and robust optimization and linear and convex programming is a plus.</p></li><li><p style="">You are a lifelong learner and empathetic teacher. You’ll keep abreast of the latest research in quantitative finance and distributionally robust optimization, as well as help develop our data strategy and information systems by evaluating available data sources that can be integrated into our system to improve performance. As an early hire in this role, you will have broad impact and ownership over our algorithm design, research agenda, technology choices, and team culture.</p><p style=""></p><h1>We're excited about you because:</h1><ul style=""><li><p style="">You have 2+ years of experience applying quantitative methods to FTRs, PTP/UTC products, and/or congestion forecasting.</p></li><li><p style="">You have a strong working knowledge of one or more ISOs/RTOs, including prior hands-on experience in Day-Ahead and Real-Time virtual transactions.</p></li><li><p style="">You have an advanced degree in quantitative finance, computer science, statistics, machine learning, operations research, or a related quantitative field.</p></li><li><p style="">You have deep knowledge of applied math, probability, statistics and numerical algorithms, including knowledge of optimization techniques in contexts such as financial or electrical engineering, operations research, or economics.</p></li><li><p style="">You are adept at communicating mathematical concepts, analytical results, and data-driven insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.</p></li><li><p style="">You are a lifelong learner and empathetic teacher.
