We are looking for a well-rounded professional engineer to support our facility construction activities in the role of SMTS - Facilities Design and Engineering. The Engineer will be charged with overseeing the design of all major equipment installation packages to increase R&D and manufacturing capacity. The ideal candidate must be able to provide design experience, supervision, and strong engineering support. They must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and cross-functional teams throughout the organization. In this role your sustaining responsibilities will include but are not limited to: General responsibilities include supporting through good engineering practices, space planning, architectural and engineering design, project estimating, useful life analysis, reliability engineering, pilot facility design, manufacturing engineering, and engineering team development. Lead in-house and outsourced Electrical, Mechanical engineers, and designers for systems such as: · Dry & Clean Room Systems· Process Piping· HVAC systems· Vacuum pump systems· Hydrogen Generators· Solvent delivery infrastructure · Emergency generators· Fluid Chillers The candidate should have a track record of: · Drafting P&ID, single line diagrams, or similar design schematics to support permit packages· Read and interpret engineering drawings Preparation of permit packages for STI and ITI submissions. Experience leading or participating in PHA’s, FMEA’s, or HAZOPS. Systematic problem solving and optimizing of facility support equipment. Participate in construction coordination meetings and actively provide solutions to schedule mitigation activities. Develop standardized procedures for maintenance, testing, and facility equipment commissioning. Provide technical leadership to facility and equipment operation team.Validate contractor requests, quotes, and the decision-making process. Drive efforts to develop and improve facility and equipment specifications. Participate on cross-functional teams as requested supporting projects and capital improvements. Maintain facility documentation repository and provide up-to-date drawings in a timely manner Some travel and occasional weekend engineering support will also be required. Leading and working in a project team environment is essential. Help maintain the facilities document control system by ensuring mechanical as-built drawings are incorporated into the master CAD drawings. Ensure mechanical systems model is up to date and all construction specifications, as-builts, O&M manuals, and submittals are received after project close out. Understand facility construction timelines and be able to provide accurate project schedules in fast-paced environment. Help maintain and organize the document control storage area for fast retrieval of information (drawings, specifications, manuals, etc.). Work closely with Program Managers, Project Engineers, contractors, and support engineering staff on project design and close out documentation. Coordinate and oversee work of external consultant's CAD support; provide design and industrial engineering support on projects. Minimum education and experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, and construction engineering disciplines. You have a proven track record in manufacturing, capital project execution, or consulting engineering roles for 7+ years. Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) & Registered Professional Engineer is a plus. Thrive in a fast-paced, technically exciting environment and quickly adapt to changes.
