Motiv is looking for an Electrical Engineer III to join the Product Development team. Your primary responsibility will be design of ePCS (electric Powertrain Control System) components, including system controllers, high-power DC-DC converters, AC-DC converters, and motor controllers. This position will contribute at all stages of the product development process and will work closely with Hardware, Software, and Manufacturing engineers to ensure Motiv designs result in successful products. You will be responsible for maintaining an expertise in the electric vehicle and component technology landscape, understanding how various advancements might fit into Motiv’s system and to ensure Motiv stays at the leading edge of development in the heavy duty electrical vehicles industry. This position reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager and is based out of the Foster City office or may be remotely located based on need. Duties/Responsibilities Expertise with power electronics design for DC/DC and DC/AC designs up to 1kV/500A Extensive experience with component level analog and digital design Thermal analysis for electronics DFM and DFT for high volume cost sensitive markets Proficiency with lab equipment and design verification Understanding of digital control techniques and signal processing Basic competence in C++ embedded programming Boot strapping/Boot Loader low level driver design experience Skilled with simulation tools such as SPICE and PSIM Knowledge of EMI mitigation techniques and filter design Familiarity with EDA tools such as Altium or PADs Automotive experience, specifically heavy duty vehicles Performs other related duties as assigned Basic working knowledge of Python Familiarity with object-orientation programming Required Skills/Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline required. Motiv is looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join the engineering team as a key contributor. As part of a small team, you will develop firmware for various components that comprise Motiv’s EV solution. Responsibilities include technical leadership, software design, coding, testing, and debugging. Candidates should enjoy getting their hands dirty and debugging in hardware with digital probes, oscilloscopes, as well as contributing to Motiv’s long-term software vision. May require occasional domestic travel, less than 5%. This position reports to the Software Engineering Manager and is based in Foster City, CA. Responsibilities Work with management, architects, and developers to create cost-effective, flexible, reliable software solutions which scale with our business Design, develop, implement, and maintain embedded vehicle control software in C Independently perform board bring-up and code debug, including utilization of associated tools such as oscilloscopes, logic and protocol analyzers, JTAG and trace pods Fulfill all specified and derived requirements, including: safety, timing, and signal processing requirements of control algorithms for chassis systems, power converters, and motor controllers Conduct requirements analysis, develop requirements documents and design documents Conduct requirements and design reviews Develop and document test plans, tests, and track results Participate in peer design and code reviews Participate in and encourage continuous improvement of software quality Adhere to Motiv company policies and procedures, as well as software best-practices Education and Experience BS in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with Software Emphasis Strong understanding of software engineering principles, including SW Quality Assurance and full SDLC 7 years industry experience developing real-time software for embedded systems required Strong proficiency in C - ability to understand compiler output (assembly) Experience implementing control algorithms; strong understanding of control theory Experience with both RTOS and bare-metal systems 4 years’ hands-on experience at the software-hardware interface Strong analytical and communications skills Familiarity with Python and bash Preferred Qualifications MS in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with Software Emphasis Experience as a technical lead Experience developing safety-critical systems Experience in automotive industry, CAN bus, etc. No sponsorship is available at this time.
