The Role.Pachama is looking for a Policy Advisor that will help make a meaningful impact on ecosystem preservation and climate change by helping to create policy that encourages performance-based protection of forests worldwide.
In this role, you will develop policy agenda with senior leadership and have responsibility for advancing policy objectives including effectively engaging with policymakers, representing Pachama on coalitions and working groups, and mobilizing partner networks. Additionally, you will help to analyze the rapidly changing world of carbon markets to inform internal strategy and business decisions. You will bring sharp insight to ensure connection between Pachama’s work and the broader policy decisions around carbon and forests.

LocationThis role is remote (as is the entire Pachama team) as we believe that talent has no geographic boundaries. However, being within 3 hours of Pacific time is preferred for this role given cross-functional communication responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with senior leaders to set Pachama’s policy agenda
  • Identify and analyze policy trends across multiple international markets to help inform business decisions and strategy
  • Produce external facing policy briefs and reports to support Pachama's core product offerings 
  • Develop relationships and establish Pachama as a thought leader in carbon markets with government and policy stakeholders
  • Represent Pachama in working groups and associations
  • Support internal and external stakeholders with analysis and insight into carbon market policy, including: voluntary market policy , international markets (Article 6, CORSIA) rules, jurisdictional programs, subnational and national ETS programs

Experiences we’re looking for:

  • Deep knowledge of carbon markets and carbon solutions, with a plus for experience with nature-based solutions
  • Track record of successful engagement with policy stakeholders
  • Experience working with emerging technologies
  • Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to self-direct and be resourceful 
  • Passion for restoring and protecting nature
