Job Description



Terramera is actively seeking an experienced, collaborative, and strategic Design Lead to join our Intelligent Agriculture Product Development team. At Terramera, we are working on ambitious projects to quantify soil health, sequester carbon in soil, promote regenerative agriculture, and transform how food is grown, globally.

The Design Lead is a chief collaborator with business, technical, and product leaders to understand and develop the vision, objectives, and transformation plans to identify opportunities for competitive advantage.


To set journey standards to ensure user-centered design solutions that feature ease of use, best-in-class design, and optimize the user experience. The Design Lead will build a holistic picture to help understand the Company’s customers and map user experiences to determine improvements to better balance customer and business needs.


Reporting to the Senior Product Manager, the Design Lead will work closely with Product, Software and Engineering groups to lead Terramera’s product design approach, roadmap, and resourcing needs.


  • Help teams define and shape the experience strategy, facilitating work sessions with stakeholders and users to define key design goals and requirements
  • Setup customer insight tools for the organization to use, focusing on the holistic process of consumers, their needs, behavior, attitudes and expectations connected to the organization's business (customer journeys, scenarios, service blueprints, pain/gain points, experience principles)
  • Engage with delivery of work and guide designers on design strategy related to research insights, execution, continuous integration, and automated deployment
  • Mentor and coach the design teams, specifically with new ways of working and mapping strategy to execution
  • Identify and remove team impediments
  • Work with CPO (in the future) and PMs to align the roadmap to vision and continuous insights to ensure voice of the customer is heard
  • Constantly look for better ways of solving technical problems and designing the solution, not afraid to challenge the status quo
  • Attend events and sessions, promoting customer focus, and be visible at internal events e.g., Demo days


  • 3+ years of hands-on product design experience
  • 2+ years of managing a design team at a product-led organization
  • Experience managing design priorities within the backlog
  • Ability to present and anchor recommendations and solutions cross organization (MVP, Vision, Roadmap etc.)
  • Ability to direct clear and creative artifacts (e.g., task flows, wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes to guide consistency across teams)
  • Ability to setup Design systems and guide the team through that (e.g., components library, branding guidelines)
  • Seasoned design expertise with deep insight into newest methods, trends, and design operations
  • Significant experience driving design outcomes in an Agile infrastructure, environments, and deployment strategies
  • Ability to make design decisions at a team and product level
  • Experience working on projects that span multiple organizations and business units
