Our mission is to reverse climate change and return the atmosphere to 280 ppm CO₂. We convert waste biomass into carbon-rich bio-oil and inject it into permanent, underground storage as carbon removal, or reform the bio-oil to produce syngas for fossil-free steel.
Last year, our carbon removal pathway took off with support from customers like Stripe, Shopify & Microsoft, and we deployed our first mobile pyrolyzer. In the next 18 months, we'll build and deploy the next pyrolyzer revision, demonstrate our fossil-free syngas pilot, substantially expand our operations in the Midwest and put more than 1,000 tonnes of CO₂e underground.

Come help us reverse climate change. Gigatons or bust!Your responsibilitiesOur Pyrolyzer and Gasifier consist of many different subsystems owned by different engineering teams. You will work with these teams individually to create custom control boxes (or find a way to standardize the boxes) for each subsystem's cold flow test stands, and eventually the next revision of our Pyrolyzer. You will work closely with the other members of the “Pyrotronics'' team to create smooth transitions from design, build, and test phases of the project. You will also work collaboratively with other engineers to ensure control
architecture that compliments the needs of the mechanical hardware.
repeatability is critical, so every design should have robust documentation that helps us make the critical transition from R&D to manufacturing at scale. We test hardware early and often to ensure consistency and stability in the field. Best and most importantly, your hardware will be critical in ensuring a better future for our planet.In this role, you'll bring:- Proven and reoccurring success in control design- Proficiency in schematic capture and panel layout- Experience designing, building, testing and debugging electronics hardware- Proficiency with standard electronics laboratory tools, such as multimeters, bench top power supplies, etc.
- Keen eye for vetting/reading schematics and data sheets for components- Knowledge of and respect for safety requirements related to high power applications- An excitement for hands-on work (and don't mind getting your hands dirty!)- A willingness to manage vendors and do your own procurement
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.These skills are a bonus:- Experience with power generation and power engineering.- Experience with motors, motor controllers, and power electronics testing- Experience with wire harness routing and design- Experience with control architecture and PLCsYou would make a great addition to the team if:
