Job Description

This is a fully remote position with preference given to candidates in the Charlotte/Raleigh/Durham North Carolina areas. The individual will work from a home office, but be required to travel approximately once per month to meet with other Accounting and Finance team members in North Carolina. This may fluctuate as business needs dictate.

REDD+ allows us to partner with communities from tropical forest countries to monetize their forest and biodiversity assets, whether they are communities, land ownership groups or governments. Wildlife Works manages a portfolio of current and prospective REDD+ projects throughout the tropics and is growing to meet market demand and interest in our innovative approach.

With offices and employees in multiple countries throughout the world and growing, Wildlife Works is looking to fill this role that will report directly to the Wildlife Works Carbon LLC Accounting Manager. The Accounts Receivable (AR) Analyst will be responsible for the generating invoices, monitoring AR collections, recording cost of sales, and supporting the monthly close process within The Wildlife Works Carbon domestic and international companies. In addition, the revenue accounting analysts will be responsible for maintaining inventory including period end valuation and routine reconciliation of quantities on hand to external sources. This position will require that the candidate act as the primary liaison with both domestic and international customers, project stakeholders and marketing teams.

Experience in bookkeeping and/or accounting for revenues, inventory, and cost of sales in a US entity with international subsidiaries, the ability to work autonomously but also be part of a team, and a demonstrated ability to read and interpret contracts will make a candidate successful in this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform daily bookkeeping for Wildlife Works Carbon such as invoicing, tracking AR and recognizing customer payments, and entering journal entries such as royalty expenses, sales commissions, cost of sales
  • Support monthly, quarterly and annual close process
  • Maintain inventory and sales worksheets to show sales and available inventory, and interfacing with sales team on pending and upcoming sales
  • Update and maintain costs of goods sold unit cost, inventory volume and cost worksheet, and roll-forward schedules
  • Support company external audit
    • Prepare audit schedules such as (revenue by geographic location, sales and inventory volume worksheets, sales commissions, etc.)
    • Maintain purchase and sales contracts associated with invoicing
    • Locate and organize receipts for inventory sampling requests, working with international subsidiaries when required to document in-country expenses for audit
  • Support the development of a corporate dashboard by providing monthly or quarterly data such as carbon credits sold, carbon credits available for sale, sales by customer and region, average per carbon credit sale price, etc.
  • Maintain KYC information and a standard data room
  • Assist in the preparation of functional and/or regional budgets and forecasts
  • Perform other duties as assigned, ultimately be willing to assist the Head of Global Accounting in any and all duties deemed necessary to maintain financially and socially successful carbon projects
  • Willingness to develop your skills in areas that you are lacking or less familiar with; Wildlife Works will support courses and tutorials to this end, and will always encourage/support the expansion of your toolset.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, Accounting or related field preferred
  • At least 3 years experience in accounting and bookkeeping, in particular preparing invoices, monitoring AR, recording Cost of Goods Sold and managing inventory
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (particularly advanced Excel abilities); Word and PowerPoint a plus)
  • English fluency—both speaking and writing—is required. Additional language skills in French and/or Spanish are a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication; a familiarity with legal documents and contracts highly desired
  • Highly detailed oriented and focused
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to be flexible to navigate between changing priorities and tasks
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online or Sage a plus.
  • Four years of relevant experience, previous accounting experience preferred
