Job Description

Location: We're flexible with where the successful candidate is based, but you'll need to be comfortable travelling to either our London or Bristol office when required.

We launched in 2009 with a mission to change energy for the better. Since then, we’ve welcomed over a million members, planted a million trees, and set our sights on helping save the planet.

As a Group, we’re working to become a net zero carbon business by 2030, while helping our OVO Energy members halve their carbon footprints at the same time.

Green energy and technology are great tools to fight the climate crisis with. But it’s people power that will rewrite history.

So we’re building a zero carbon team inside and out. Of people who share our values, feel inspired by our mission, and want to make change happen. When you work for OVO, it’s not just a job. It’s the work of a lifetime. And we want the sharpest minds to help.

Up for the challenge?

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

The Workday Team at OVO supports the entire OVO group, working with the People and Finance functions by configuring system updates, implementing new functionality and providing the business with accurate and timely reporting. The ideal candidate exhibits self-motivation, excellent communication skills and has strong experience of working within Workday Payroll modules to configure and improve processes.

What will I be doing?

The Workday Payroll Analyst will be responsible for the development, configuration and maintenance of the payroll modules within Workday plus the implementation of Payroll for acquired companies within the OVO Group.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide end-user troubleshooting, issue remediation, technology request assistance and escalation management as the main point of contact for the in house OVO payroll team
  • Configuration and process improvement within the payroll modules within Workday
  • Reviewing bi-annual Workday updates and providing guidance on new features to adopt
  • Manage and perform the execution of system changes (updates, new configurations) and participate in all aspects of system testing.
  • Implementations of new payrolls through company acquisitions

Is this the job for me?

Life at OVO is pretty fast-paced so you’ll be comfortable working in a dynamic high growth business. You're confident handling multiple projects and deadlines in a constantly evolving environment and are comfortable proposing, justifying, initiating and implementing change.

You don't need to be a specialist in Workday but awareness of the system would help. For us, it's more important that you are systems savvy and tech confident (especially office tools) with proven payroll experience - even better if you're CIPP qualified in Payroll Management

You're a critical problem solver and have an outstanding ability to analyse, identify and resolve gaps. You're a self-starter and great teammate with a collaborative, pragmatic approach.

Ideally you will have:

  • CIPP Qualification in Payroll Management
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel and adept in working data accurately
  • Critical thinker with the ability to analyse, identify and resolve gaps
  • Experience working within a fast moving project environment would be an advantage
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to uphold the highest degree of data confidentiality
  • Adaptable to change
  • Able to communicate technical information in a simple way
  • Confident with office tools

OVO believes in fueling human progress with clean and abundant energy for all. We were set up to always find a better way and challenge the status quo: we want to be the good guys, find a way, and build something great. We embrace simplicity, transparency, and treating people and our planet fairly. We understand that attracting and keeping the best talent is key to our bright future, so our people will always share in our success. Our benefits are pretty nice too.

From us you’ll get*

  • A competitive salary
  • Discretionary performance based bonus (*)
  • 4% of your salary to spend on flexible lifestyle benefits (*)
  • 5% matched employer contribution to your pension
  • 25 days holiday + 1 for your birthday
  • Flexible working hours
  • And many more...

(*) Please note that certain benefits kick-in once you have passed probation which can be up to 6 months after your start date.

Diverse teams are the best teams

We’re keen to meet people with varied backgrounds: the more inclusive we are the better our work will be. We want to build a team which represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, and we decide employment on the basis of merit and potential.

We understand some people may not apply to jobs unless they tick every box. If you're excited about joining us and think you have much of what we're looking for, even if you're not 100% sure… we'd love to hear from you.
