Salary: £66,000 - £91,500

Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working? 

You will join the Quality Engineering team. We’re on a mission to provide Kaluza engineers with the tools and frameworks that allow them to contribute to a platform view of quality and scalability. We are building the tools, services, frameworks and capabilities, and crafting standards, procedures and guidance to enable teams to follow consistent approaches to testing and validation of software developed at Kaluza and achieve Zero Change Failure Rate.

We are a platform team working in X-as a service mode, as well as facilitating mode. We may also be embedded in a team or squad on defined engagements to help find testing gaps and tackle testing problems, then consolidate findings to be shared across the platform.

What are my responsibilities?

• Continually find innovative ways to refine the quality of Kaluza platform.
• Develop common tooling that enable
• Creation, deletion and replication of test data at scale.
• Testing of sophisticated integrations and customer journeys
• Reporting quality metrics into centralised dashboard
• Building/using reports and dashboards that give insights into quality practices at Kaluza.
• Partake in incident post mortems to identify and work with the teams involved to reinvent their quality processes and prevent incidents from reoccurring and follow up on post incident improvements.
• Seek insights from incidents, test reports and relevant metrics to prioritise work in the team.
• Organise lunch and learns and Tech Talks sessions to share and promote quality innovations and procedures across Kaluza.
• Occasionally embed yourself in other engineering teams to coach and enhance their quality of delivery.
• Researching test tools, methodologies and trends to upgrade existing practices and processes.

Our tech stack is different in different parts of the platform: Scala, Go, TypeScript and React are very common. We’re cloud native and use Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka and Terraform. We run our services in AWS and GCP.

Is this the job for me?

Ideally you’ll have

• A passion for software development.
• Experience developing high quality software employing practices like pair programming, code reviews and asynchronous discussions.
• Experience analysing and disintegrating software systems and collaborating and coordinating with multiple teams to improve design.
• An excellent appreciation of Agile development methodologies and the principles of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering.
• Ability to understand product/project documents and objectives to help implement test cases.
• An excellent understanding of software testing methodologies and deployment strategies to minimise blast radius and customer impact.
• Experience using application performance monitoring tools and have built/used data visualisation dashboards to gain insight into system changes over time.
