Job Description

Job title: Infrastructure SRE

Location: Lisbon (including hybrid)

Salary: €34,500 - €112,000

We want to power a world where net-zero is within everyone’s reach, by building the platform that will accelerate a sustainable, affordable and resilient energy transition. It’s a huge challenge, but often the toughest problems are the most rewarding to solve.

Since launching in 2019, Kaluza’s technology has been empowering some of the biggest energy suppliers to better serve millions of customers.

From revolutionising billing to smart electric vehicle charging, our real-time cloud platforms transform supplier operations, reducing cost to serve and boosting engagement. And most importantly, they enable suppliers' customers to drive decarbonisation with smart, low carbon technologies.

Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working?

You’ll be working on the Kaluza’s Energy Retail platform. This is a SaaS technology platform that aims to revolutionise the operating platforms for energy retailers globally. This platform has been built with scale and technical quality in mind and is the foundation for decarbonisation efforts by Kaluza’s customers.

We are in the process of transforming the platform's architecture to create global “spinnable” environments, this is to support rapid onboarding of multiple clients and allow Kaluza to adapt to an ever changing energy landscape.

This specific role is in the Infrastructure SRE  team. Their mission is to build a platform as a service on top of public cloud providers, maintain common components and develop automation that are reusable across many software teams whilst being reliable for the future. This enables us to scale the freedom and autonomy Kaluza’s engineering culture is built upon.

What will I be doing?

  • You’ll design, build and maintain a platform as a service based on Kubernetes, used by product teams to run their own services.
  • Work with Security Engineering team to ensure the security of our platform
  • Work with product teams to increase devops practices convergence.
  • Focus on providing a highly reliable infrastructure.
  • Mentor/coach junior engineers and provide guidance on quality of deliverables and at the same time allowing a healthy level of autonomy.

Is this the job for me?

We are looking for excellent engineers with experience in building and maintaining complex platforms based on Kubernetes,  and demonstrated abilities and attitude; we see DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering as a mindset.

 Ideally you will have:

  • A strong background in software engineering; we don’t mind what language!
  • Extensive system design experience
  • Extensive experience with kubernetes
  • Knowledge in Site Reliability Engineering
  • Experience with cloud computing (AWS)
  • CD/CI tooling & continuous delivery best practices
  • Network & Security knowledge
  • Interest in distributed systems and event driven architecture
  • An inquisitive and curious approach, with confidence to tackle difficult problems
  • Rapid adoptee of merit-proven new approaches & technologies
  • Problem solver / structured thinker
  • Always happy to help and a natural sharer of knowledge

Here at Kaluza we are 100% committed to providing a reliable platform for our clients.
