Job Description

Running Tide is an ocean technology company built to tackle humanity's most urgent challenge: climate change. We build cutting-edge solutions that integrate engineered and biological systems to remove CO2 from the atmosphere, restore ecosystems, and secure food systems. Our multidisciplinary team of world-class scientists, engineers, and maritime operators is working as fast as possible while the world is burning.
We’re looking for an Quantification Engineer to work with our R&D team on designing experiments and analyzing experimental results. This role on the Ocean Modeling team is embedded with the Substrate Development lab. The Quantification Engineer will identify key gaps in our knowledge, ask the right questions and design experiments to answer them, and analyze the results. The Quantification Engineer will work on a range of projects which will involve being hands-on in the lab and hands-on with computational models. This is a full-time salaried position located in Portland, Maine.

You Will:

  • Work with the Ocean Modeling and Substrate Development teams to design experiments
  • Perform experimental work which includes engineering testing equipment and developing automated processes
  • Collect data and analyze experimental results
  • Coordinate the collection of experimental data for large or long-running projects
  • Incorporate results and error analysis into dynamic computational models
  • Triage testing priorities to ensure we are gathering the most pertinent information for our computational models

You Are (or You Have):

  • A strong background designing ocean experiments
  • Education and experience in a technical engineering field (e.g. mechanical engineering, materials science)
  • Knowledge of object oriented programming

Bonus Points:

  • Experience building complex computational models
  • Welding or machining knowledge, or willingness to learn

Our teams operate with utmost persistence. We are tackling the world’s most difficult and important problems, and we are unwavering in our motivation to find a solution. At our core, we are innovators driven to do "more good" rather than "less bad" in the world.
Running Tide is committed to building a diverse team, bringing as many possible perspectives to bear on the unprecedented challenges facing our planet. We are committed to building an inclusive environment where people of all backgrounds  can come to do their best work.
All offers of employment at Running Tide are contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check.
