The Boundary Stone Partners Transportation Team has more than 50 years of transportation policy experience at USDOT, on key congressional committees including the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee and House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and industry at transformational companies including Amazon and Uber. We have drafted, negotiated and implemented legislation, developed campaign and communications strategies, and managed multi-billion dollar policy portfolios. Today, we support leading transportation innovators, helping them navigate Washington and the policymaking process. 


About The Role

The Vice President for Transportation will lead client engagement, strategy development, and government affairs execution for leading transportation companies, non-profits, trade associations, and financial institutions. Core responsibilities include:


  • Manage client relationships from proposal generation through execution of government affairs strategy to become the go-to-trusted expert resource for clients in the clean transportation sector
  • Manage client portfolios, working with other staff to create documents, memos, and slide decks for clients and proactively flag and synthesize policy developments and political intelligence for clients
  • Identify policy solutions to help our clients succeed, and develop strategies to execute these solutions through legislative, regulatory, and coalition building activities
  • Be the public policy lead for a client utilizing the firm’s expertise and working closely with the client’s legal, policy, and business lines 
  • Build relationships with key policymakers both on Capitol Hill and in federal agencies and with other influential federal government-oriented stakeholders
  • Prepare clients for Congressional hearings, federal agency rulemakings, and other federal legislative and regulatory proceedings
  • Represent clients in national trade associations and industry coalitions
  • Build third-party political, advocacy, NGO, and industry allies to support strategic policy objectives
  • Uncover business opportunities and new opportunities with existing clients 


About You

  • 10+ years of federal government, policy, or corporate government relations experience in the transportation sector 
  • Deep understanding of Congressional lawmaking and federal regulatory processes
  • Deep understanding of USDOT, DOE, and EPA funding programs for transportation and innovation and agency processes for policy development
  • Established Congressional and Executive branch relationships and you confidently interact with key Hill staff, elected officials, and executives alike
  • Strategic thinker with polished oral and written presentation skills
  • Thrive under pressure and can balance long and short-term priorities to deliver results
  • Resourceful and entrepreneurial, roll-up your sleeves, and not afraid to think outside the box
  • Experience as a team-oriented people manager
  • Want to work with a team who values collegiality and a sense of humor
