Job Description

Job title: Senior Communications Manager

Location: Washington DC (successful candidate required to live in DC or Virginia)

Salary: Competitive

Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working?

Energy systems around the world are undergoing huge transformation in order to decarbonise and move the needle on the climate crisis.

Kaluza is the intelligent energy platform that is enabling the world’s largest energy companies to lead in the energy transition, by powering market-leading experiences for their customers and innovating for a smart, zero carbon grid. Maximising real-time data and AI, the Kaluza platform enables energy suppliers to better serve millions of customers and actively engage them in their energy use and carbon footprints. At the same time, Kaluza is pioneering the smart charging solutions that will enable electric vehicles and smart heating systems in every home to intelligently store cheap, green energy and even sell it back to the grid.

We’ve got a start-up mentality as well as the knowledge and experience of one of the UK’s leading energy companies. As a growing SaaS business, we pride ourselves on technical excellence and the ability for our work to have a real impact in taking on humanity’s biggest challenge.

What will I be doing?

We are seeking a Senior Communications Manager to lead on public relations and content writing within Kaluza’s growing MarComms team. This role will be key to supporting our global marketing campaigns by building brand awareness and credibility through earned media in combination with our paid, lead generation campaigns.

The Senior Communications Manager will report to the Head of MarComms and Brand and will work closely with the product marketing, business development, and brand design teams.

You will lead on PR and thought leadership content for the business, involving:

  • Forming relationships with key media in the US and globally. (Existing relationships within the energy, auto & tech trade media would be beneficial).
  • Supporting spokespeople including Kaluza’s CEO for interviews and event speaking
  • Writing blogs, opinion pieces and award submissions among other content types
  • Writing and publishing organic social media posts
  • Working with event organizers to shape speaking engagements
  • Helping curate brand content such as videos and website content with third parties
  • Forming good relationships with partner associations
  • Maintaining and sharing writing guidelines and tone of voice for the business

Is this the job for me?

You’re a relationship former, buzz builder and content genius who takes deep satisfaction in keeping things organized. You plan well but respond quickly when needed and know how to prioritize your time. You competently tailor the company’s messaging to different audiences, through different channels, at different times to best promote our brand. Ultimately, you are motivated to put your skills to good use in solving humanity’s greatest challenge and take pride in what you do.

Ideally you will have:

  • Proven experience in B2B communications/marketing
  • Excellent copy-writing skills
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills; you’ll be a stickler for detail and hyper organized
  • Experience of events and social media management
  • Internal communications experience
  • Experience handling relationships within the energy, auto & tech trade media would be beneficial

You may not have all of the skills and experience boxes ticked, but if you think you have much of what we’re looking for, then we’d love to hear from you.
