We are seeking a VP, Grid Integration tasked with establishing and implementing the strategic vision for the future of Distributed Generation (DG) and Utility Scale (US) interconnections for the organization.  This will be accomplished through technical expertise, innovative ideas, collaboration with internal stakeholders and establishing personal relationships with the key proponents of renewable energy interconnectivity in our current and future markets.  In addition to setting the strategic pace, this position will manage a technical team to drive project level execution for solar and storage.  A balance of soft skills, technical acumen, and an innovative thinker will be empowered to lead the team to be an interconnection leader in our industry.   


  • Drive strategic level innovation and help shape alternate utility renewable interconnection means and methods that drive enterprise value
  • Drive interconnection execution and strategy for Distributed Generation and Utility Scale solar and storage projects within the CED group
  • Manage the project level interconnections team composed of the Grid Integration Team and Director, Grid Integration
  • Monitor and work with the Policy team on state utility and regional ISO regulatory policy developments and issues impacting our solar and storage projects
  • Participate in interconnection and similar grid modernization proceedings and working groups on behalf of the organization
  • Engage with internal teams to comprehend regulatory friction points and work with Policy advocacy to address immediate solutions and long-term improvements
  • Understand DG interconnection tariffs in active and target markets
  • Identify technical, policy and regulatory trends that could impact organizational operations or project performance and communicate relevance to key business leaders and key business teams
  • Work with Policy for interconnection procedures favorable to Nexamp, specifically, and the solar and energy storage industry


The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on, results-oriented, and a team player.

Key qualifications as follows:

  • Experience with Distributed Generation and Utility Scale operations 
  • 3+ years of renewable energy interconnection experience
  • Background in engineering; at least 3+ years with distribution utility or interconnection experience and direct experience in DER interconnection
  • Demonstrated experience with cross-functional project leadership including: Engineering, Procurement and Construction, Policy, Business Development, Project Acquisitions, and Asset Management 
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic planning and implementation; ability to proactively anticipate and prevent problems that could result in internal and external stakeholder dissatisfaction
  • Policy and legal experience; working knowledge of FRC and ISO-level interconnection processes
  • Knowledge of the applicable utility tariffs, governing policies, and regulatory frameworks across multiple states
  • Knowledge of electrical principles, including medium voltage distribution, protection system coordination and relaying principle
  • Strong management and project management skills required
  • Experience leading people and teams; 5+ years of experience 
  • Technical (Engineering, Operations Management, Mathematics, Science) Master’s Degree from an accredited university preferred
