Impact to Climate Change:
Transportation creates 23% of all greenhouse gas emissions each year. Role Description
The ideal candidate for this role will be passionate about creating innovative microgrid projects that enable TeraWatt to optimize energy costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase energy resiliency, and deliver power when grid supply is limited or not available. The Strategy & Commercial Manager, Microgrids, is responsible for the following: 1) defining and developing TeraWatt’s microgrid use cases and business strategy; 2) establishing project pro forma analysis;  3) vendor due diligence, procurement plan and process; 4) contracting with microgrid suppliers; and 5) coordinating project development with project development team. These key responsibilities will help to reduce energy costs, demand charges, increase reliability and resilience to TeraWatt projects.
The ideal candidate will have experience with the following: 1) utility rate analysis or design; 2) DER ex-ante and ex-post modeling and optimization; 3) evaluation of DER technologies; 3) DER vendor procurement; 4) DER interconnection. 
The Strategy & Commercial Manager develops required strategic vendor partner identification, contributes to integrating advanced energy management into TeraWatt’s product offerings for specific fleet applications as well as template project site designs. They will be a key partner to Project Development, Business Development, Finance, and Regulatory & Government Affairs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to successfully deploy scalable energy solutions that lower energy costs and/or increase reliability;
  • Define Company's core use cases and timeframe for integration of distributed energy resources, microgrid technologies and advanced energy management features into its large-scale charging infrastructure projects;
  • Understanding of the interplay between system design, cost, project economics, financed offerings vs cash deals, and ability to run and use financial models;
  • Identify strategic vendor partners opportunities, lead procurement activities for the deployment of DER solutions;
  • Ability to develop DER systems from inception to COD;
  • Engaging with electric distribution utilities on the use of DERs to reduce or avoid requirements for additional load service;
  • Knowledge of utility tariffs and programs, power purchase agreements, demand response, resource evaluation studies, regulated and wholesale energy markets;
  • Support multiple large-scale power infrastructure projects across different locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6-10 years of electric industry experience;
  • ​​Demonstrated ability to innovate and get creative to develop executable projects;
  • Extensive experience working in or with, DER vendors, electric utilities, or regional power markets; 
  • Deep understanding of electric utility rates and tariffs
  • Experience in power equipment procurement;
  • Experience in large power infrastructure development; 
  • Fundamental understanding of Industrial Real Estate, procurement and development of Gen Sets, 500kW+ solar, storage systems, and/or EV charging station load management is a plus;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills especially in relation to customer interaction;
  • New mobility, transportation and/or commercial vehicle industry experience.

The US Base Salary range for this full time position is $140,000-$180,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, interview performance, and geographic location.
