We’ve created a new position to bring our company to the next level and to keep us rooted on our path of rapid growth. The Chief of Staff is an executive position designed to tend to the hearts and minds of our talented people while achieving results that continue to grow our business.

The Chief of Staff is based in the Minneapolis Office and is the liaison between the Managing Directors (our founders who are offsite) and the local talent. This position helps the Managing Directors oversee the growing operations while protecting and enhancing the company culture. The Chief of Staff serves as an advisor, gatekeeper, problem solver, and all-around strategic partner who helps the Managing Directors and their talented teams to develop and implement strategy to meet organizational goals and advance the company’s mission.

The Chief of Staff role has both internal- and external-facing responsibilities, ranging from people management to project management. The role requires a strong leader with the skills and experience needed to collaborate and achieve actional results through others and to bring people together.

We are looking for a motivated candidate who will:

  • Work with all team leads to ensure clear and effective communication, collaboration, and success
  • Provide the Managing Directors with progress updates, general insight and analysis on the company’s operations and warnings of potential issues
  • Collaborate with Managing Directors and team leads to determine and prioritize business strategies
  • Oversee strategic business initiatives and special projects from ideation to implementation, providing tactical support, when needed, to implement ideas
  • Respond to inquiries on behalf of the Managing Directors; create and send internal and external communications on behalf of the company and the Managing Directors and for meetings
  • Receive and package regular reports from staff and departments, and take steps to ensure maximum efficiency, harmony and good workflow; inform Managing Directors on progress and issues found
  • Identify and help solve core problems and opportunities within business processes; identify and provide recommendations on improvements across the company
  • Work to mediate disputes and deal with issues before they bubble up to the Managing Directors; seek guidance quickly to mitigate problems
  • Determine new and enhance key performance indicators and how to measure team performance
  • Work with leadership to deliver, monitor and communicate progress towards goals
  • Provide department leaders with recommendations and consultation to improve teamwork
  • Assess risk when business decisions are made
  • Plan, coordinate and lead meetings and workshops that enhance capability and that unit team members

Our desired experience and qualifications are:

  • 7 plus years of organizational administration or project management experience; at least 2 years in a similar position
  • At least 5 years of people management experience
  • Must have the acumen and finesse to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously, mixing project work, people management with the urgency of immediate demands
  • Must be detailed oriented, yet can lead effectively in times of ambiguity
  • Must possess exceptional judgement and communication skills, the ability to collaborate with and achieve results through others
  • Knowledge of financial management and strategic planning
  • Knowledge of business compliance, operations, and HR policies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a sense of humor
  • Strong interest in ESG and Treehouse Management’s mission
  • Experience working at a start-up preferred; self-starter, takes initiative
  • A Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, communications, management preferred
  • Master of Business Administration preferred
