Job Summary

This role will focus on building solid, long-term relationships with cities and other public sector stakeholders in Southern Europe (France, Italy, Iberia, Middle East) to allow Bird to open new markets and operate in the country at the best possible conditions for both Bird and Southern European cities. Achieving these objectives will require the Government Partnership Director to directly manage the various country teams, and work across the organization with various stakeholders to facilitate key initiatives, and drive internal alignment on a Government Partnership strategy for Southern Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Government Partnership professionals based in each of the following countries: France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Middle East (“Southern Europe” scope)
  • Represent Bird in Southern Europe, promote Bird’s brand and reputation 
  • Build, and/or strengthen relationships with the city officials of key Southern European cities, as well as other key national or local stakeholders
  • Develop Bird’s strategy to win or renew operating permits when their attribution is competitive (RfPs)
  • Build a close relationship with Bird’s EMEA leaders Operations team to identify, evaluate and prioritize opportunities to improve the regulatory framework relevant to our operations
  • As a Government Partnership Leader in EMEA, contribute to the definition of Bird Policy view and strategy, and build a best-in class Government Partnership department

Requirements

  • 15+ years experience, preferably in (local) politics, administration, or in a government relations position in the private sector 
  • Prior experience managing a team
  • Relationship-builder, with experience in partnership and stakeholder management in local or national politics
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills including the ability to present to different audiences
  • Solid previous experience in managing projects from start to finish
  • Self-starter / quick learner with the ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment
  • Enthusiasm for tech, mobility, or urban planning industries would be of added value
  • BA required. JD, MBA, MPA or equivalent preferred
  • Available for travel
