Position Summary:

AgriCapture is a mission-driven company that certifies Climate-Friendly practices on farms, ranchlands and grasslands and quantifies associated emissions reductions, enabling producers to generate revenue for their sustainable management practices. By certifying agricultural products as Climate-Friendly and developing carbon credits, we serve corporations who are reducing and offsetting their GHG emissions while empowering consumers to consciously select Climate-Friendly products. We are seeking a Carbon Project Development Manager to oversee our carbon offset projects and verifications.

As the Carbon Project Development Manager, you will be working at the intersection of the business, technology, and data teams to manage the full carbon project development process, leading engagements with third party providers and vendors, drafting project documents, and ensuring successful credit issuance. You will be responsible for identifying any knowledge or resource gaps and recruiting talent to complement current capabilities. This will be a dynamic, fast-paced position providing a unique opportunity to be a part of a growing company that is poised to have a positive environmental impact.

Objectives of the Role:

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of carbon project developments, from data collection to carbon credit issuance
  • Allocate resources, establish timelines and goals, and monitor progress
  • Develop resource plan and budget needed to efficiently bring carbon offsets to market
  • Provide technical leadership on all aspects of carbon offset projects (AFOLU methodologies)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop carbon project delivery plans, allocate tasks to team members and track and monitor execution against major milestones
  • Draft and provide input on data and analysis methodologies, ensuring methods are consistent with registry-approved guidance and seeking confirmation from registries where necessary
  • Select and negotiate contracts with third party vendors for soil sampling, modeling and verification and be primary point of contact to ensure vendors are executing against agreed upon terms and timelines
  • Provide guidance on application of various registry protocol to technical and data teams
  • Interface with verifiers and registries to provide clarifications on protocol requirements and AgriCapture execution
  • Manage project delivery risks and issues by identifying potential blockers and developing mitigation or remediation plans to put project back on track based on input from technical team, vendors and leadership
  • Support the farmer and landowner onboarding process by providing guidance on data collection and analysis
  • Provide input on technology roadmap by detailing technical support needed to improved project delivery
  • Oversee cross-functional carbon project development team executing on core components of carbon project delivery, including direct reports and technical staff
  • Identify resource gaps in carbon project development team and work with HR to hire additional resources to support delivery Guide technical staff in designing and writing project documents
  • Manage carbon project development staff by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance
  • Report weekly on progress to senior management
  • Evaluate future project development opportunities by analyzing various methodologies

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental sciences, carbon science, or similar field
  • 2-5 years of experience in AFOLU carbon project development
  • Experience and knowledge working with the CAR and Verra registries
  • Ability to effectively communicate between business and technology teams, translating technical solutions and carbon project development requirements
  • Strong project management experience, including developing and executing project plans
  • Strong managerial experience overseeing cross-functional teams
  • Proven ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment
