Job Description

Electric Hydrogen’s mission is to make molecules to decarbonize our world! Our outstanding people are our most important asset and will allow us to deliver hydrogen from renewable electrolysis for heavy industry, at prices below fossil fuels. 

 

You will lead the team responsible for system engineering at Electric Hydrogen. In this role you will split time between our office in San Jose, CA and our office in San Carlos, CA with an allowable hybrid work schedule. Depending on the phase of the project, up to 10% of your time might be best spent at vendors sites or on project sites. You will report to the VP of Product Engineering.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leverage first principles thinking to develop system architectures for our plants which achieve the lowest possible levelized cost of hydrogen
  • Translate top level product requirements into engineering requirements for all systems, subsystems and components
  • Optimize requirements by developing performance and cost models to quantify tradeoffs
  • Define top level system behavior and control logic
  • Analyze system level failure modes and effect and use this analysis to establish test plans and make design changes
  • Gather and analyze data from prototype, pilot and commercial deployments and compare product, system, subsystem and component performance to requirements and models
  • Build a collaborative interdisciplinary team which works across sites and across teams to achieve the best possible product level outcomes

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES

  • BS in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, or similar
  • 10+ years working as a systems engineer or in roles where holistic analysis and interdisciplinary tradeoffs were critical
  • Experience leading engineering teams
  • Experience building system models
  • Experience bringing new products into existence

$155,000$206,000 USD

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.​
