Job Description

This role can be based from any of our offices or remotely within the UK.

We’re making zero carbon happen

We’re OVO Group, a big family of companies united by a single vision: to get to zero carbon, fast.

We call this Plan Zero – and it shows how we’ll be fighting the climate crisis and transforming the way people use energy over the next decade. To do this, we need the sharpest minds. Are you up for the challenge?

Do great green things with OVO Energy

So much has changed since we launched in 2009.  Our goal remains the same though: make energy cheaper, greener, and simpler. Just as it was on day one.

Everyone belongs at OVO

Our aim is to build a diverse and inclusive movement: teams of brilliant people, with unique talents, skills, passions, and experiences.

We encourage everyone to join us, whatever your gender identity, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, life experience, or background. So please come as you are – we can’t wait to meet you.

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

Working in the Contact Centre Excellence team, this role is a mid-senior position responsible for enhancing and maintaining the platforms that our contact centre agents use to support OVO’s customers, especially our Agent Desktop (Salesforce ServiceCloud). The Contact Centre Excellent team is committed to improving our customers’ experiences whilst enabling an efficient, cost effective operation so that we can continue to offer an award winning service.

What will I be doing?

As a Salesforce Engineer you would be at the heart of building the software platforms that our agents use, across our Customer Care, Complaints and Operations teams. Working in a multidisciplinary, Agile product team comprising UX, analysts, QAs, product managers and of course other software engineers like yourself - we have everything we need in one place. You would enhance the way OVO handles customer contact, case management and the overall user interface that all of our agents use.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and building features, improvements and innovations on our Agent Desktop platform
  • Consider security, performance and other non-functional requirements
  • Own and take pride in what you build
  • Supporting designers and analysts in requirements generation and provide insight into the art of the possible
  • Having a keen understanding of user experience, putting yourself into the shoes of our users
  • Help keep our test environments updated and fit for purpose
  • Participate in sprint planning to improve our cycle time and reduce bottlenecks
  • Improve processes by identifying inefficiencies and promote new ways of working

Is this job for me?

Ideally you will have:

  • Multiple years of development experience in the Salesforce ecosystem
  • Experience of working in an Agile product team, knowledge of Scrum and Kanban methodologies
  • An analytical mind to understand requirements and to design and build solutions that meet our users’ needs
  • A strong sense of user experience, especially within a lively contact centre environment, to ensure our software makes our agents’ lives easier
  • A focus on customer service, experience within a contact centre will be most helpful
  • Attention to detail, spotting the little things others might miss
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Be curious - challenge the status quo, experiment and try new things
  • Ability to prioritise workload and influence product managers on the priority of feature and bug fixes
  • A passion for technology and a will to learn new skills
  • Experience of CI/CD pipelines, JIRA, TestRail, GitHub, and contact centre platforms
