Remora is hiring an Adsorption Scientist Intern who will onboard and support talent across our fast-growing company, all while helping to tackle the defining challenge of our time. We’re a 50-person climate tech startup based in Detroit, MI. We build a device that captures a semi-truck’s carbon emissions directly from the tailpipe. We sell the CO2 to end-users, and split that revenue with our customers, so our device pays for itself in just a couple years. We’re piloting our technology with some of the largest companies in the world, including three of the Fortune 10, and we’ve raised multiple rounds of funding from leading investors like Lowercarbon Capital, Union Square Ventures, and First Round Capital.
Responsibilities
Adsorption and regeneration
Validate uptake and recovery of carbon dioxide and/or water vapor from adsorbent materials
Design regeneration processes that limit cycle timing, regeneration energy, and/or temperature swing
Investigate novel regeneration methods
Optimize mass transfer to increase uptake, through models and experimentation
Optimize heat transfer to increase recovery
Support the technology team in the development of device hardware and processes that control and optimize gas separation and purification
Requirements
Current enrollment in a college engineering program majoring in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Engineering, or similar
