We are dedicated to shaping an inclusive culture that drives excellence, innovation, and results by enabling talent acceleration and development, engagement, and the employee experience.  The Operations Team is a matrix organization within Beyond Meat that is dedicated to creating food products that are leading the gold standard in plant-based proteins. They are looking for an outstanding individual to join the team located in Devault, PA as an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Associate.

The EHS Associate is responsible for supporting improvements to employee safety performance by providing training, coordinating safety programs, and targeted EHS assessments in a Food Manufacturing and Innovation environment. They are responsible for working with employees and management to conduct EHS related training and implement SOPs. 


TASKS, DUTIES, & GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance and EHS projects on a range of areas such as Machine Guarding, Equipment Safety, Lock Out Tag Out, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Preparedness and Response, EHS auditing, and more
  • Assist EHS Director in developing compliance procedures, plans, permits, and reports
  • Assist EHS Director in developing content and conduct safety trainings for employees, contractors, and visitors
  • Coordinate and implement safety programs in support of Operations and Quality
  • Build strong collaborative and communicative relationships with Leadership and Team members within all departments
  • Coordinate employee PPE programs
  • Assist incident investigations and contribute toward identifying and implementing root cause countermeasures
  • Assist with job safety analysis to proactively identify potential hazards and implement countermeasures
  • Communicate and/or coordinate with plant management Assist internal safety and compliance audits, follow-up with corrective actions to close audit findings
  • Assist in managing external vendors in support of projects and programs such as CPR training, ergonomic assessments, and first aid
  • This role assists EHS SOP implementation, document updates, and site audits/compliance tracking
  • Works with EHS Director and plant management to create and monitor employee trainings
  • Build on the safety program needs
  • Incident Reporting- Investigation and Root Cause Analysis/Correction
  • Adhere to all facility policies concerning safety, security, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Performs other duties, as assigned, and follows through on requests in a timely manner

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education, Technical Skills, and/or Previous Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Related Field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered
  • 3+ years of experience working in an EHS role in a Food/Manufacturing Environment
  • 3+ years of experience with training and SOP development
  • Experience with OSHA, Hazardous Waste Management, Behavioral Based Safety Programs (preferred)

Other qualifications

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus, not a requirement
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and attention to detail, with the ability to efficiently organize information, analyze large datasets, and present data in a clear and impactful manner
  • High-level ability to build strong relationships and influence technical, business, and operational decisions
  • Strong multitasking skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Warehouse and production manufacturing environment that includes both tempered and ambient areas.  
  • The work environment is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Position requires the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, step, balance, crouch, stoop, kneel, squat, bend, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs., reach above shoulders, or as needed to complete tasks.
  • Must be able to occasionally climb stairs or a ladder to complete tasks
  • Position located in a mix of production and office environments and requires a tolerance for consistent cold work environments (-10-40˚ F), high worker traffic, loud noises, odors, dust, and varying room temperatures.
  • This position will be required to visit the production floor, refrigerated and frozen storage, and warehouses.
  • Work flexible shifts as required.
  • Understand that overtime and occasional weekends and/or worked holidays will be required based on company needs.

The starting annual base pay for this role is between USD $70,000 and $80,000.  The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands.  The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
