Job Description

About the Role:

As a Greenhouse Group Lead at AppHarvest, you will be joining a team at the forefront of reinventing sustainable agriculture by assisting in the operation of the Greenhouse. Daily responsibilities will include assisting the operation team in maintaining food safety, monitoring of GMP (good manufacturing practice) compliance, and conducting training.  Group Leads must demonstrate leadership and mentoring skills to lead all Crop Care Specialists and ensure that tasks are performed to meet minimum standard and minimum quality requirements.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead a team of Crop Care Specialists and their daily routine while promoting a positive work atmosphere and building team spirit
  • Monitor and evaluate employee performance, providing coaching and training as needed to ensure greenhouse productivity, quality and safety standards are met or exceeded
  • Ensure the proper use of Priva for CCS productivity
  • Partner with Food and Environmental safety leaders to ensure hygiene, cleanliness, pest, disease, and equipment protocols are adhered to by all team members
  • Maintain a frequent and open dialogue with HR regarding coaching of their team members
  • Work with Assistant Growers and Supervisors to execute the labor schedule and proper crop management plan
  • Lead and execute annual activities such as cleanout, crop-turn, and planting of new crops

What We’re Looking For:

  • College degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 1+ years' experience leading individuals working on production lines; Successful candidates will have demonstrated the ability to achieve quality standards
  • General understanding or ability to be trained on the Priva (Labor Management Software system) or similar
  • Training in Food Safety and Sanitation
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal skills, and attention to details
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • MS Office suite intermediate level proficiency
  • Ability to work with/manage 15+ team members

Working conditions / Physical Requirements:

  • Conditions typically found in a greenhouse with high humidity and varying temperatures (34oF to 110+oF) and background noise approaching 80 decibels.
  • Must have manual dexterity to perform computer skills and operate equipment.
  • Visual and audio sensory are needed regularly.
  • Exerting force of up to 50 lbs. occasionally, 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly as part of lifting and moving product and equipment.
  • Bending, stretching, twisting, crouching, grasping, reaching, and lifting above shoulders.
  • Standing, sitting, and walking for prolonged periods of time may be required.
  • Ability to work different shifts, nights and or weekends as business dictates.
