Engineering Project Manager

About Us

Travertine is a start-up based in Boulder, CO that is building a gigaton-scale carbon dioxide removal (CDR) and industrial chemical manufacturing process. Our process takes carbon dioxide from the air and sources of waste sulfate and produces carbonate minerals, sulfuric acid, and hydrogen. The sulfuric acid is used in industrial applications such as extraction of critical elements like lithium and nickel. We recently raised a seed round from the Grantham Foundation and Clean Energy Ventures, we were one of the first companies to receive pre-purchases of CDR from the new Stripe-led $1B Frontier fund, and we received a $2M grant from the DOE’s ARPA-E program. We believe in developing practical approaches to solving the climate crisis.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Project Manager to manage the engineering design, procurement, and construction for our on-site CDR projects starting with several pilot-scale projects. This role will interface between our executive team, R&D team, EPC partner, vendors, and subcontractors to deliver projects on budget and on time. 

This role requires expertise in both engineering design and procurement as well as management of partners, subcontractors, and vendors. We are looking for someone with a degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar and 3-10 years of experience managing engineering and construction projects in the chemical, mining, or fertilizer industry. You will be responsible for our projects staying on schedule and on or under budget. This role is ideally based in Boulder, CO, however exceptional remote candidates based in the US will also be considered. 

Responsibilities

• Project Management throughout the full life cycle of Travertine’s projects starting with engineering design all the way through commissioning.
• Managing the interface between internal R&D team, EPC partner, vendors, and site partners.
• Review and contribution to engineering design, component selection, and cost-benefit analyses. 
• Managing project schedule and budget.

Qualifications

• Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or equivalent
• 3-10 years of experience in Engineering Project Management
• Experience building both pilot and commercial-scale facilities 
• Experience in electrochemistry, fertilizer production, acid production, and/or mining.
• Experience in the chloralkai industry is a plus
• Ability to function as an individual contributor and manage multiple stakeholders.
• Desire to scale technologies that benefit society and the environment.
