Job Description

 Company Overview

Flux Marine is a high-growth marine technology start-up that is designing electric outboard motors from the ground up without using legacy combustion engine parts. This allows our motors to maximize efficiency and minimize maintenance without compromising performance vs gas engines. Our technology has many applications including commercial, recreational, yacht tender, and defense markets.

Job Overview

We are looking for a mechanical ESS engineer to develop hardware and engineering processes to advance the development of our high-voltage battery systems at the module and pack level. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team to define pack level requirements and develop battery system prototypes for test and evaluation. Core responsibilities include advancing design and integration of all electrical hardware components within the ESS, including HV bussing, LV wiring, connectors, cell monitoring units, and the battery disconnect unit. We promote a hard work, high reward environment with tremendous opportunities for advancement within the company as we enter a period of hyper-growth. As a part of this role, you will have visibility into the other projects in development at the company and will regularly engage with the executives and founders on the progress of your work.

  • Complete electrical system FMEA and root cause analysis
  • Own hardware from start to finish, including specifications, design, prototyping, testing, and high-volume manufacturing
  • Collaborate with Powertrain Team on design, simulation, integration, and testing.
  • Interface with and hand-off designs to manufacturing for production
  • Present project progress and challenges during all-hands meetings
  • Sourcing and procuring electrical components
  • Develop best practices for working safely with HV systems

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least BS degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Prior experience with electric vehicles/Formula SAE or similar is a plus
  • CAD proficiency, Autodesk Inventor preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in product engineering for complex electrical systems
  • Excellent grasp of the fundamentals of Electrical Engineering and safe working procedures
