Manufacturing Data Engineer

As a Manufacturing Data Engineer, you will help us connect our manufacturing equipment to our digital systems to ensure that we are capturing and utilizing all relevant process information.

As the first manufacturing-data focused individual at the company, you will serve as the point person for data architecture decisions and enable analytics across the organization. You will interface with process engineers to monitor and control manufacturing processes, by setting up connections to equipment and creating analytical tools such as run charts. You will query production data to assist in failure investigation and root cause analysis. You will work with operations to design and create production reports. You will work with the test data team to ensure we have a consistent and seamless architecture across our manufacturing and testing operations. Overall, you will help the company grow by enabling data-driven decision making.

We are building our manufacturing capabilities, and so a successful Manufacturing Data Engineer will be excited about building out the infrastructure needed to enable a data-rich production system. As a young company, you will wear many hats and interface with many different groups across the company. While the mission to decarbonize heavy industry is clear, the day-to-day steps to achieve this goal can and will be varied. As a Manufacturing Data Engineer, you will help us create a world-class manufacturing environment built on data.

You will be based in Natick, MA and you will report to the Manager of Manufacturing Process Engineer.

Responsibilities:

• Create and own the data pipelines in our manufacturing environment
• Be a key stakeholder in the deployment of our digital systems (ERP, MES, QMS) to ensure we are properly set up to capture and utilize process data
• Interface with the process team to design and implement process analytics tools
• Work with operations to create production reports
• Work heavily with the test data team to ensure seamless connections between production and product testing
• Create analytical tools using process data to identify trends

Basic Qualifications:

• Degree in a relevant STEM field or equivalent experience with proof of outstanding work
• Understanding of database architecture
• Proficient in data analysis, including proficiency coding in Python, R, or equivalent
• Familiarity with SQL
• Aptitude with data visualization
• Experience working with REST APIs
• Ability to understand complex manufacturing processes and systems

Preferred:

• Experience with MES systems
• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment
• You've worn "many many hats" in the business; if a job needs to be done, you'll step in and do it if you are able
• Ability to work with multi-disciplined teams
• You are self-motivated, collaborative, data -driven, resourceful, adaptable and action oriented

Compensation & Benefits:

Manufacturing Data Engineer (P3): $101,000 - $134,000 per year

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.​
