Flux Marine is a high-growth marine technology start-up that is redesigning electric outboard motors from the ground up without using legacy combustion engine parts. This allows our motors to maximize efficiency and minimize maintenance without compromising performance vs gas engines. Our technology has applications across several areas including commercial, recreational, yacht tender, and military markets.

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled mechanical technician to assist our engineering team. In this role, you will work with the engineering team to advance our product from concept/prototype to release. Tasks include designing and building fixtures and jigs, aid in creating product testing protocols, and perform product testing and validation. Testing will be everything from the component level on benchtop through the full system level on the water.

As a part of this role, you will have visibility into the other projects in development at the company and will regularly engage with the executives and founders on the progress of your work.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the mechanical engineer with mechanical design and development tasks.
  • Installing and performing diagnostic tests on electro-mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical malfunctions and breakdowns, as well as performing repairs.
  • Documenting processes and maintaining basic records.
  • Monitoring the availability of parts and replenishing supplies.
  • Maintaining a tidy work environment and adhering to industry regulations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Associates degree in mechanical engineering technology, or similar. Experience based equivalency is acceptable.
  • A minimum of two years' experience as a mechanical technician in a related industry.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering designs and installations.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design and testing software.
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Great organizational and time management abilities.
