One Tree Planted is a US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on global reforestation. As an environmental charity, we are dedicated to making it easier for individuals and businesses to give back to the environment, create a healthier climate, protect biodiversity, and help reforestation efforts around the world. POSITION PURPOSE:

One Tree Planted is looking to hire a Web Designer to design, code, and maintain our existing website pages while ensuring an excellent online experience for our users. 

One Tree Planted is a US-based non-profit that plants trees worldwide to help combat climate change, conserve biodiversity, restore landscapes, and strengthen communities. We act as a catalyst and conduit for individuals and businesses to help reduce their carbon footprint and meet their corporate social responsibility objectives. While most of our work happens behind the scenes, One Tree Planted’s Marketing Department is vital in inspiring consumers and businesses to make a difference. The ideal candidate for this position is a focused and driven Web Designer who can multi-task and has an acute attention to detail. 


REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS 

  • Reports to our Sr. Website Manager 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION 

ROLE: Work closely with our Web team and our Marketing/Communications department by creating designs & layouts, coding reusable components, and publishing & updating content to our already-existing website. 


RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Design page layouts & templates that are in line with our branding 
  • Maintain the appearance of our website by enforcing content standards
  • Communicate design ideas with mops 
  • Utilize data and analytics in making design decisions 
  • Test and improve the design of our website 
  • Build clean, reusable, and pixel-perfect components 
  • Implement front-end code improvements 
  • Incorporate functionalities and features 
  • Ensure optimal performance on all devices and browsers
  • Work with Web Team to deploy pages 
  • Collaborate with other teams and departments across the organization
  • Perform other duties as required to support the Marketing/Communications department 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s and/or Technical degree in Graphic/Web Design or related field 

RELATED EXPERIENCE: 3+ years of relevant experience. Experience in the nonprofit sector is a plus. 


SKILLS: 

  • Excellent knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Familiarity with jQuery and Liquid template language is a plus. 
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems. Experience with Shopify Plus is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Figma (or similar) and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, XD). Familiarity with Canva is a plus. 
  • Understanding of online marketing and Search Engine Optimization principles
  • Experience with responsive design and media queries 
  • Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility issues 
  • Awareness of UX/UI principles 
  • Proficient understanding of Graphic Design principles and Color Theory
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Attention to detail with the highest degree of accuracy 
  • Ability to work autonomously and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  •  Excellent time management skills 
  • Ability to implement revisions from feedback 
  • Familiar with ClickUp, Airtable, Google Drive, Slack, Zoom 
  • Ability to work on-site, as necessary

  • Passionate about new technologies 
  • Adaptable and willing to learn new techniques 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy work environment 
  • A self-starter willing to think outside the box 
  • Interested in nature and the environment or working for a nonprofit 

IDEAL LOCATION: This position is permanent and full-time in Montreal, Canada. May consider other locations upon demonstration of qualifications. 


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 

COMPENSATION: The typical starting salary is 55,000 CAD / USD based on skills and experience. Annual performance increase may be available but not guaranteed.
