Job Description

Rubi is ushering in an entirely new planet-positive era for manufacturing. Our vision is a world where human prosperity is planet-positive, and manufacturing is symbiotic with Earth. Our mission is to build the world’s most sustainable supply chains for the important materials we rely on; including textiles, building materials, food, packaging, and more.

Rubi decarbonizes supply chains, starting with the fashion industry.  Inspired by how trees breathe in CO2, Rubi uses biochemical processes powered by enzymes at an industrial scale to “eat'' carbon emissions and make carbon-negative, resource-neutral textiles for the fashion industry.   Within the last year alone, Rubi’s game-changing technology has captured the interest of the scientific community, top investors, and the world’s most influential  fashion brands.  It has partnerships with global fashion brands and manufacturers, and has been featured in Vogue Business and TechCrunch.

As Rubi Laboratories is growing, we are building our amazing team! Currently we are looking to bring on a Finance & Accounting Operations Manager / Director to oversee financial resources, as well as support upper management and leadership by creating financial models and making data-driven recommendations that drive the business forward. As the founding member of our Finance team, you will have extensive visibility across the entire company, and will be joining a diverse, people focused work culture. By taking an entrepreneurial approach to strategic finance, your expertise will be critical to helping our team drive the change that’s needed to achieve our commercial, operational, and corporate development goals.

In this role you will:

  • Advise executives, key stakeholders and cross functional teams using expertise in strategic finance and data-driven decision making
  • Prioritize cross-functional partnering: through a network of intra-company relationships, ensure timely data is gathered across technical, operational, and commercial aspects of the business
  • Aggregate and synthesize this diverse data to deliver “what matters” analyses that inform critical decisions by key Rubi stakeholders
  • Help the team identify and prioritize short-, medium-, and long-term projects that align financial results with Rubi’s mission and goals
  • Help build Rubi’s financial planning infrastructure, improve operational performance, allocate resources, and build governance and decision-making practices
  • Plan and measure: Own aspects of Rubi’s periodic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes
  • Continuously drive improvements in clarity, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Drive financial literacy: Act as a change agent to transition Rubi’s company-wide financial literacy from startup to mature enterprise
  • Model: Own long-term financial modeling for certain business areas, and Rubi as a whole, by incorporating a deep understanding of business drivers
  • Special projects: Assist with evaluating and navigating key initiatives, business models, risks, and opportunities as they arise across Rubi’s commercial, capital planning, and corporate development operations
  • Report to Co-founder and CEO, and provide data-driven financial recommendations for future business decisions

Qualified candidates have:

  • Bachelors or higher in finance, economics, accounting, business studies, or related field
  • 5-7 years' experience in corporate finance and accounting operations at companies involving new technologies/R&D, retail, and/or investment banking, including reporting and making recommendations to stakeholders and executives
