Job Description

Climate Robotics is a venture-backed startup based in Houston, TX. We are building the next generation of agricultural machinery to produce biochar, a powerful soil amendment that improves soil health and sequesters atmospheric carbon. We are looking for dynamic and adventurous engineers to join our team in developing in-field pyrolysis systems. Tinkerers, hackers, and mad scientists preferred. You will work with our team bringing pioneering technology to life, prototyping new components, finding innovative solutions, and commissioning equipment. Work includes the design and assembly of process systems, commissioning and troubleshooting prototype equipment, and in-field operation of pyrolysis systems.

This role is onsite in Houston, TX with 25-50% travel to our test site in Navasota, TX.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical systems
  • Experience with vehicles, machine equipment, or robotic assemblies
  • Familiarity with automation and process control
  • Experience with ROS, C++, Python, and LabView
  • Experience with SolidWorks
  • Experience with electric and hydraulic motors, gearboxes, chain and belt drives, screw conveyance, material conveyance
  • Experience with formed sheet metal and machined parts design


Responsibilities include:

  • Working with engineers to design and build functional prototypes of mechatronic systems
  • Creating schematics and layouts
  • Working with interdisciplinary fabrication teams to build and assemble prototypes
  • In-field operation and problem-solving
  • Bring-up and debug
  • Hardware validation

Requirements

  • 0-3 years experience with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar
  • Authorized to work in the US for any employer
