Job Description

Company Overview:

Nitricity is a startup addressing climate change, and we are looking for your help. We are innovating in an essential chemical industry that supports global food systems. The bedrock of modern agriculture is the production, distribution, and application of the essential nutrients found in fertilizers. However, nitrogen fertilizer is currently made in coal- and gas-fired facilities located hundreds to thousands of miles away from farmers who need it. The $120B industry is responsible for as much as 6% of global CO2eq emissions. Nitricity Inc. has developed a new technology that produces fertilizer using air, water, and renewable electricity (e.g., solar). Growers will have access to a more reliable, low-cost, and environmentally friendly fertilizer supply. We are actively growing our team to help us realize this vision.

Position Description:

The Program Manager will be part of Nitricity's Business Development team working on novel CO2 storage via carbonization of nitro-phosphoric acid. Specifically, this position will be the program lead on Nitricity’s project with Frontier Climate. Frontier Climate is a $925M carbon removal commitment by Stripe, Alphabet, Shopify, Meta, and McKinsey & Company. Nitricity's collaboration with Frontier Climate involves combining Nitricity’s “green” nitric acid with other materials to sequester CO2. This process has the potential to be highly cost-effective, increase the value of the product, and sell credits for sequestering CO2.

The primary responsibility will be coordinating with Nitricity's R&D team and contract engineering partners to implement nitro-phosphoric acid trials. Job responsibilities will entail working with the business development and engineering teams. The Program Manager will report to Nitricity's Director of Business Development and apply their business development and chemical engineering skill sets toward a novel CO2 sequestration approach.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with R&D, engineering team, and external partners on the experiment design
  • Prepare test plans to validate the operation of the equipment
  • Work with external partners to accelerate product and subsystem development
  • Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and the quality of output
  • Provide process documentation, technical specifications, and operating instructions
  • Perform process simulations and risk assessments, and manage cost and time constraints
  • Work on techno-economic analysis and life cycle analysis for CO2 sequestration
  • Travel to experimental sites

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience
  • B.S in Chemical Engineering
  • Experience developing lab scale set ups
  • Experience with industrial chemical, fluid flow, and CO2 removal technologies
  • Experience with assay data analysis in chemical engineering
  • Project management background and skills
  • Exceptional scientific and communication skills: verbal, written, and presentation
  • Work well in focused teams with multiple disciplines
  • Versatility to thrive in a start-up environment
  • Teamwork, communication and organizational skills
  • Enthusiasm for high-impact, hard tech solutions

Compensation and Benefits*:

  • $120,000/yr-$160,000/yr
  • 3 weeks of paid vacation
  • 7 company holidays and 2 floating holidays
  • Medical and Dental insurance
  • Parental leave
  • 401k plan with matching
  • Commuter Benefits

*Benefits are subject to change over time and may require employment in CA to be eligible.
