Job Description

About Sunairio

As the world transitions to renewable energy, the global economy will become more dependent on weather than at any point since the Industrial Revolution. And due to climate change, the weather that our future economy is tied to will be drastically different from the weather we’ve historically experienced. This means that managing weather-based risk, and weather-based variability is the number #1 challenge facing the energy grid.

Sunairio’s mission is to disrupt weather analytics as we know it to build the most advanced platform for valuing, managing, and operating renewable energy. We work with renewable energy project developers, storage operators, energy buyers, energy suppliers, portfolio managers, traders, and utilities to deliver actionable insights into the hardest energy problems.

The Sunairio team has decades of experience in energy, renewables, climate modeling and software engineering. We’re now seeking a data engineer who has proven experience in software engineering for data-centric products. At Sunairio, the Data Engineer will be responsible for scaling and orchestrating databases, big data pipelines, machine learning algorithms, climate simulations, pricing models, and more.

What we offer:

  • The opportunity to join an industry-disrupting startup on the ground floor–with significant equity compensation
  • The focus to work on innovative solutions to problems of critical importance
  • A truly collaborative team environment
  • The ability to help shape company culture
  • Competitive salary and incentive-based compensation plan

  • Working closely with data scientists, data architects and business partners to identify, capture, collect, and format data from external sources, internal systems, and the data lakehouse to extract features of interest
  • Building and maintaining flexible data pipelines for external data that feeds ML models
