Wildlife Works is a community-centered wildlife conservation company that implements market-based initiatives to protect the planet’s threatened wilderness and endangered wildlife. The company was founded on the premise that if we want wildlife in our world, it has to work for local communities who share their environment. Wildlife Works’ conservation projects drive direct financing to forest communities to fund their own economic development while preventing millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions from entering the atmosphere annually.
Position Summary
Wildlife Works' successful community-centered conservation projects around the world are sources of endless rich and impactful climate action stories, films and thought leadership. As new projects are launched to scale our conservation work, The Global Editorial Producer will produce and manage Wildlife Works’ digital storytelling platform to elevate our work with Indigenous and local community partners and promote our style of positive, human-centered stories within the mainstream climate narrative. The ideal candidate will have a passion for global cultures and climate justice, be a skillful storyteller and proven success and creativity producing in a fast-paced, global context.
Responsibilities:
- Execute and manage global content strategy for key audiences hierarchy, including development and launch of an online multi-media platform
- Execute and manage production process with a global, distributed workforce
- Recruit, train and manage regional communications team members to source compelling local stories
- Collaborate with regional directors to source and expand and manage our network of contract storytellers
- Collaborate with in-house filmmaker to develop and produce compelling film content and accompanying written stories, both for our platform and festival submission
- Collaborate with Senior Editor and Climate Communications Specialist to revise and edit article submissions from regional content teams
- Coordinate with in-house marketing partnerships specialist to identify and manage media partnerships with climate and conservation content creators
- Manage budgets, logistics, crew and equipment needs for all film and video productions
- Travel internationally once per quarter to project sites
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Media or related field
- Ten years of editorial production experience in the field of global culture, conservation or climate, with at least two years of that experience managing editorial production for magazine or digital media platform
- Intimate knowledge of all aspects of video post-production workflow
- Ability to work effectively remotely, with a geographically dispersed workforce
- Demonstrated passion for advancing social justice
- Adept at working within diverse cultural settings and among a range of sensitivities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with superb attention to detail
- Proficiency in French or Spanish is a plus
- Ability and desire to travel nationally and internationally, at least once per quarter to visit and maintain relations at project sites
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Preference given to candidates in California, North Carolina and Vermont
Salary range: $85,000 - $105,000
