Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

You will be working within the OVO Retail Finance Team. The OVO Retail Finance Team’s objectives are:

  • Financial Control; to ensure OVO's resources are directed, monitored and measured in an accurate and timely manner and to maintain a ‘No Surprises Environment’
  • Financial Planning; to allocate future resources beneficially to Ovo and to introduce a clear method to achieve these plans
  • Strategy; to help build and execute an action plan and to drive OVO to its long term objectives.

This role is within the OVO Capital Allocation team and will report into the Treasury and Cashflow Manager.  The role will support the objectives of the Treasury team to ensure there is effective control and efficient use of OVO’s cash resources.  There will be a real focus on ensuring clear visibility and accuracy of OVO cash forecasts.  The Treasury team are responsible for monitoring/accounting for approx. £6bn of customer receipts per year as well as processing over £5bn of supplier payments.

What will I be doing?

The role will involve:

  • Liaising with teams across the business to own and maintain an accurate daily cash forecast and support the optimisation of the daily cash position.
  • Provide daily updates to Senior management on cash position, covenant headroom and key working capital and cash management levers
  • Continued development on the automation of cash reporting
  • Deliver variance analysis and insight against previous forecasts to improve forecasting accuracy
  • Drive continuous improvements to short and long term cash forecasting processes and models
  • Working closely with and provide ongoing support for Treasury Assistants
  • Input to improving Treasury processes, procedures, and opportunities to improve other core Treasury activities
  • Act as key point of contact for banking relationships, bank mandates and banking access/admin
  • Collaborating with Controls team to develop and implement a framework of key treasury procedures and controls

Is this the job for me?

What we are looking for…

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or Treasury Qualification
  • Proven experience of a similar role (2+ years) ideally in the Energy industry
  • You are someone who strives for accuracy, is detail-oriented and takes full ownership of the work you are responsible for.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with key stakeholders and teams throughout the business and externally.
  • You have a proven track-record in excel-based modelling and cash flow forecasting.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to challenge.
  • Self-motivated and self-starter with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Strong work ethic, dynamic and enthusiastic to strive for highest levels of accuracy
  • You should be diligent with a preference for attention to detail, and be willing to dig and investigate at depth to resolve problems.
  • You should also be team-oriented with a willingness to help colleagues investigate issues.
