Job Description

About Elemental Excelerator

Elemental Excelerator is on a mission to redesign the systems at the root of climate change. We are a leading nonprofit investor focused on scaling climate solutions and social impact for all communities. Elemental fills two fundamental gaps to tackling climate change: funding first-of-a-kind projects for climate technologies in real communities, and embedding equity and access into climate solutions.

As a nonprofit with over a decade of experience in commercializing new technologies, we are uniquely positioned to provide tailored support and services to help startups overcome the valleys of death to scale the solutions we need to tackle the climate crisis. Elemental has been innovating on the traditional investment model for over a decade. We do more than simply write a check; we offer a full suite of hands-on services, support, coaching and introductions across the value stream to support growth and deployments. The organization has stood up a half-dozen programs to break down barriers to climate tech innovation through its robust portfolio, policy, equity & access, career pathways, investors/philanthropy and strategic partnerships.

About the role

Elemental is seeking a passionate self-starter to join its Growth team as Development Analyst. Development is where we foster catalytic partnerships with visionary donors to enable our team to deliver on our mission. It’s often through these philanthropic partnerships that new program ideas are born and new directions are forged for the organization.

In this role, you will build internal organizational systems and provide operations and analytical support to the philanthropic partnerships and fundraising program. You’ll be a key part of keeping our development operations running efficiently.

This position will report to the Director of Strategic Development and will be tasked with determining and supporting cross-functional projects and opportunities within the greater Growth team.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Support the growth of the fundraising program, including collecting, analyzing, and interpreting technical, program-related, and impact data
  • Build and maintain a database of existing and prospective donors and funders, including gift tracking and reporting
  • Manage development tracking, database and project management tools
  • Conduct regular research of foundations and other grantmaking institutions to find opportunities for funding and partnership.
  • Collect program-related and impact data for grant applications, as well as pitch and proposal development
  • Synthesize monthly reports about progress from the philanthropy team
  • Assist with the planning and execution of donor-related events

About You

You could be a great addition to our team if you love building systems -- filling gaps in internal processes and finding solutions for workstream efficiencies. You bring a high attention to detail and experience in project management. You believe deeply in a more just and equitable world and understand the steps vital to get us there. You have a pulse on philanthropy and fundraising and if development is new to you, you are excited to learn how to use your organizational skills to mobilize resources for a purposeful organization. You adapt quickly to diverse, high-impact teams and are motivated by being a standout collaborator and solution maker.

Qualifications (even if you don’t meet 100% of the qualifications, we still encourage you to apply!)

Desired skills:

  • 2+ years of experience working at an analyst level, or in data coordination or project management
  • Outstanding written communication and organizational skills
  • Diligent with meticulous follow-through
  • Passionate about establishing and improving processes and efficient workflows
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to build interpersonal relationships
  • Team-oriented approach and ability to work effectively in fast-paced teams
  • Entrepreneurial creative mindset with an eagerness to problem solve

Standout skills:

  • Experience in one of our sectors: energy, mobility, agriculture, circular economy, water or social justice
  • Experience in nonprofit development and fundraising, or in one of our key collaborator groups: finance, policy, or technology
