Decarbonization Project Engineer

About the Job
We are looking for a Decarbonization Project Engineer to manage development and execution of energy efficiency projects with our commercial customers. This is a mid-level position with engineering responsibilities.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting decarbonization and resource efficiency initiatives for key Gridium customers. In addition you will be shepherding energy retrofit projects through their various phases for Gridium. This will include:
Meeting with key clients to assess and provide technical support for decarbonization initiatives
Participating in preliminary analysis of customer sites to identify opportunities for energy efficiency/carbon reduction, capital improvement and facility operations including:
Site surveys
Preparation of preliminary cost and savings estimates
Participating in investment grade energy audits to further refine and qualify measures identified in the preliminary analysis:
Detailed site audit
Validation of the energy efficiency measures being considered
Contribute to concept design and scope of work
Participate in project implementation (final design and construction):
Finalize design and scope of work
Review design and submittal documentation
Commissioning of the installed measures
Other responsibilities include:
Staying up to date on advanced controls and innovative energy efficiency and sustainability technologies

Requirements
You should be self-directed, responsible, and committed to efficient delivery of well-documented projects. We need a problem solver who can ask good questions and collaborate effectively with teammates. You should have:
Enthusiasm for energy efficiency, buildings, and the energy transition
Eagerness to take ownership of the project development process, including working with customers to arrive at solutions to novel questions
Comfort interacting with client stakeholders from different levels of the organization
Interest in wearing multiple hats and working on a broad range of problems as a member of a small team in a fast-moving environment
Extensive experience/expertise with Excel and/or Google Sheets. Experience/expertise programming within Excel/Sheets a plus
Excellent writing and presentation skills
Candidates must have the legal right to work in the United States. Residence in San Francisco Bay Area is preferred. Candidates residing in the Los Angeles/San Diego are welcome to apply though up to 50% travel may be required.
Required Experience/Background/Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering, Energy Management, or Building Sciences
2-4 years work experience in one or more of the following:
Energy auditing
Energy management
Existing building or new construction commissioning
Commercial building HVAC systems design, construction, operation.
Building automation systems (BMS, lighting controls, etc.) design/construction
Commercial building lighting systems design, auditing or LED retrofit
Utility incentive programs
Demonstrated experience performing energy savings calculations for lighting and HVAC energy conservation measures.
Experience working in critical environments (data center, high-tech manufacturing, clean room, hospital, etc.)
Course work, and/or industry certification in any of the above a plus
This role will require travel (approximately 25%) to customer sites, primarily in California.
