Position

We’re looking for a Transportation Analyst to join our collaborative and committed Climate Tech team. The Analyst will work to grow and nurture the community of transportation professionals engaging with GreenBiz — including supporting building the Transport Program, one of six that comprise our flagship VERGE event; supporting the development of the transportation components of the VERGE Electrify online event; and supporting in co-leading the Transport Weekly newsletter. Overall compensation (base salary + discretionary bonus) for this role will be commensurate with years of experience and qualifications within the following range: $90,000 - $120,000 plus health and wellness benefits.

This role will report to the Senior Transportation Analyst and collaborate closely with other GreenBiz Analysts. 

Responsibilities

The below responsibilities are not an exhaustive list of the responsibilities of this role and additional duties may be assigned as the needs for this position evolves.

  • Supporting the development and execution of the Transport Program for the VERGE event, including:
    • Spearheading the development of an advisory board and conducting interviews to understand and synthesize the landscape to inform conference sessions
    • Helping define the scope and focus of the Transport Program
    • Reviewing and evaluating speaker proposals related to the Transport Program
    • Co-building the official transport program with the Senior Transportation Analyst, which includes building thoughtfully crafted sessions that touch on topics relevant to the industry by experts across all areas of the transport sector
    • Identifying, recruiting and spearheading coordination with content partners, moderators and speakers to develop the sessions that will comprise the Transport Program
    • Providing support for transport-related special programs throughout the event, including:
      • Reviewing applications for the VERGE Accelerate startup pitch competition
      • Engaging potential community partners
      • Identifying new opportunities for engagement with the sector 
    • Exploring, implementing and iterating on new ideas for improving the VERGE programming to better serve the community 
    • Working with the sales team to forge introductions where appropriate for potential new sponsors, identifying thought leadership opportunities for sponsors and collaborating on other matters as they arise
  • Contributing to the VERGE Electrify online event by working closely with GreenBiz’s Vice President of Energy and Senior Transportation Analyst. Responsibilities include: 
    • Leading on the development of the event’s Transport programming, including developing sessions, engaging speakers and coordinating logistics 
    • Identifying and engaging top-tier transport speakers for the keynote program and advisory board
    • Identifying and engaging transportation professionals to strategically grow the Electrify audience 
    • Providing support and input on creative and innovative online content
    • Reviewing and evaluating speaker submissions for the Electrify program 
    • Working with the sales team to identify valuable speaking opportunities that best serve our audience and sponsors, identifying thought leadership opportunities for sponsors and collaborating on other matters as they arise
  • Contributing to the GreenBiz editorial department by:
    • Tracking top trends relevant to the transport industry and the GreenBiz audience, engaging in strategic conversations with top industry leaders, reviewing news content and industry reports and more to co-author a bi-weekly newsletter
  • Supporting the development and execution of the Transport Peer Network. Responsibilities include:
    • Providing input and support as needed on growing the Transport Peer Network and on-the-ground activities during in-person and online meetings
    • Supporting with outreach and engagement activities to grow the network
  • Public speaking during VERGE and other GreenBiz and non-GreenBiz events
    • Moderating and speaking on panels during VERGE and other GreenBiz events, both in-person and virtual
    • Speaking/attending non-GreenBiz conferences, both in-person and virtual
  • Scoping out growth opportunities for GreenBiz Group in transportation systems, including in the areas of:
    • Deeper strategic partnerships with automotive companies, Fortune 1000 fleet professionals, government and policy leaders and more
    • Identify products and methods to best serve and connect with key audiences 
    • Reflect on new business offerings to best support the community

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, 3-5 years experience working in transportation decarbonization, mobility or related industries
  • Deep passion and enthusiasm for transportation decarbonization 
  • Ability to take charge and ownership of work and produce high-quality work
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail with exceptional time management, organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, demonstrating initiative, accountability and ownership of assigned tasks
  • Ability to work internally with colleagues across teams, including sales and marketing and externally with customers and partners outside of GreenBiz
  • Quick thinking, learning and problem-solving capability
  • Comfort working amidst ambiguity and bringing a strategic lens to growing and nurturing a community
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Google Apps. Familiarity with Airtable, Clickup and Drupal a plus. 
  • Professional or personal commitment to sustainability
