Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

You’ll be working in the Information Security Team. We're growing! We currently have vacancies in various teams, so you will get a chance to meet with all the teams recruiting for this role.

In our various home and office locations, we have around 22 Information Security Experts, all with varying backgrounds and levels of experience. One key thing that all of our Information Security Team have in common is a desire to develop brilliant, industry disrupting products and processes as well as their own skills.

What will I be doing?

The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for taking the data that OVO holds and mining it to achieve valuable insights to improve the information security of the organisation. 

These insights are then used to inform critical business decisions. The insights play a crucial role in shaping the company's future and the way it operates.

Key activities:

• Develop tactical and strategic business intelligence solutions for senior levels within OVO using security data.
• Partner with internal teams to constantly mature our intelligence life cycle including reviewing collection, analysis,  reporting and feedback processes.
• Create and present compelling briefings to relay relevant security information to technical and non-technical audiences supporting OVO’s information security objectives.
• Work with data engineers to build automated assessments of security control objectives using telemetry from existing and new security issue discovery and remediation tools.
• Aggregating, querying and analysing large data sets, producing reports and recommendations.
• Identifying anomalous data and examining and eliminating any processes or procedures that contribute to unreliable data being collected.
• Working with the Director of Security to build Management Information from OVO’s inventory of everything.
• Identify development needs in order to improve and streamline operations.

• You have a firm understanding of statistics and databases.

• You are keen to learn about or have knowledge of cyber security.
• You have a bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or relevant experience

The person we are looking for will have skills in some or all of the following:

• Graph databases and associated query languages (Cypher preferred)
• Use of BI/Analysis tooling (Tableau preferred)
• Scripting and automation tooling 
• Knowledge of technical environments and their architecture (not essential, analysis skills preferred over knowledge)
• Working with telemetry from security tools and  cloud technologies, AWS, GCP, PaaS & SaaS
• Working with uncertainty and incomplete data sets
• Working closely with software vendors

We’ll pay you between £50,000 and £80,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us! We keep our pay ranges broad on purpose to give us, and you, flexibility to match your experience to our zero carbon mission.

You may be eligible for an on-target bonus. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
