Haven Energy is a well-funded, seed-stage startup focused on accelerating the adoption of home energy storage through a two-sided marketplace model. We believe that widespread, distributed storage will be a key part of our energy future, helping stabilize the electric grid in the face of increasing climate change-induced weather events, an aging transmission and distribution infrastructure and increased electric loads due to home electrification. Summary of Role
Haven is seeking an Operations Manager (OM), for the Southern California market. In this role, you’ll take ownership for the supply side of the marketplace and for improving the operational model for your region. We are building a new category of business in the home electrification space and firmly believe that our success and differentiation will be tightly linked to our ability to uniquely understand installer partners needs, build an efficient and effective operational engine (based on insights you’ll discover), and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
As Haven’s first Ops Manager hire, you will be an entrepreneur, building the playbook for others to follow through field tested tactics you’ll design, develop and put in action yourself. In this role, you will own the supply side of the market, building and managing a network of top-notch electrical installers, owning local supply chain and distribution and taking responsibility for exceptional customer service delivery. In short, you will be at the forefront of advancing clean energy adoption by building Haven’s first launch market from the ground up.
The ideal candidate loves to wear many different hats, is constantly learning and is excited about building in that zero to one phase. It requires a highly versatile and well-rounded individual, someone who is action oriented, data driven, is comfortable driving large projects and taking ownership for the success of their market. What you’ll do
Build and manage a best-in-class installer network across the region
Own local distribution relationships and build efficient processes that ensures delivery requirements are met
Pull and analyze data to make informed decisions for region
Lead our supply side strategy for our launch operations on the ground in Southern California
Be the local face of the business to our electrical installer network
Own supply side KPIs and OKRs
Build the local operational model, developing data driven insights, designing and quickly testing strategies to improve KPIs across the business
Build operational playbooks that the rest of the organization will put into action
Work highly cross functionally with internal and external teams from product to marketing to ensure that the needs of your market are met
Work with your team and GM to drive down OpEx costs to achieve an efficient local operation
Innovate at the local level, building MVPs and business cases that will help inform the company’s product roadmap
Be the local go to expert for anything and everything supply-side going on in your region
Communicate, negotiate and advocate for your region’s needs
You’re a great fit if you
Have 2-6 years of operations management, consulting, or entrepreneurship experience
Are excited about taking on a high level of ownership over market success
Regularly think creatively and push the limits to drive growth
Are unafraid of making mistakes, understanding that mistakes are necessary to growth and learning at hyper speed
Have taken projects from idea stage to execution through play booking and documenting learnings
Love digging through data and comfortable using (or learning) SQL to build your own queries
Get excited about a well structured spreadsheet, and comfortable manipulating data to identify actionable insights
Have excellent communication and organization skills
Work well within ambiguity
Comfortable using digital project management and knowledge base tools for self led and team projects
Enjoy interfacing with stakeholders from electrical installers, to distributors to customers
Are excited about the climate tech space and building a more flexible grid while providing energy independence to customers
You’re an ever better fit, if you
Have worked within an OKR structure
Are a SQL ninja, and all major decisions are rooted in data support
Are comfortable building complex models in Google sheets or excel
Have experience building a marketplace company and understand marketplace dynamics
Have excellent project management skills and are regularly called on to take on the most important projects
Have managed large networks of suppliers in past roles
Have experience working within a startup environment
Have industry-specific experience in residential solar, energy storage, home electrification or other areas related to clean energy, sustainability and the circular economy.
