Position: Field Data Analysis Intern 

Targeted start date summer 2023 

Location: Remote, United States

We are looking for a summer intern on our Data Science team.  The intern will have the opportunity to work on two exciting projects with the ability to do independent research and build critical tools for our team.  These projects involve independent research into statistical techniques to improve our field data analysis pipelines as well as the visualization of model outputThe intern will produce a workflow for model development across our field sites and flexible R and Python packages for the visualization of various standard reporting metrics across the Data Science team.  These outputs will help us process, analyze, and communicate data more effectively to stakeholders across the organization.  We are seeking applications for a full-time internship lasting approximately 3 months. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with microbiologists, plant biologists, agronomists, and data scientists to gather information about experiments, data, and conclusions 
  • Capture as much information as possible about the strengths and weaknesses of individual experiments and metadata relevant to experimental conclusions 
  • Test possible formats for searchable information storage and organization with stakeholders across Product Innovation 
  • Prototype a wiki-like system for storing digested experimental information in a searchable and readable format 

Physical Demands: 

  • Job will involve mostly office and computer-based work  
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, or fingers 
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing 
  • Communicating with others to exchange information 

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Solid experience in experimental life science 
  • Passion for communicating complex ideas clearly 
  • Interest in biological nitrogen fixation 
  • Some statistical experience preferred 
  • Pursuing a graduate degree in microbiology or a related science

All remote positions and those not located in our Berkeley, Hayward or Boston locations are paid based on National Benchmark data.  Following employment, growth beyond the hiring range is possible based on performance.Hiring Compensation Range$21$21 USD
