Job Description

Who are we?

Sealed is a climate tech company on a mission to stop home energy waste and electrify all homes.

Sealed designs, manages, and finances home weatherization and electrification projects, making it easy and affordable for people to be more comfortable while using less energy. Our proven holistic approach can reduce energy use by 50% and takes a home completely off of fossil fuels with upgrades like high-performance insulation, air sealing, and heat pump HVAC. Our expert team designs the right solution, matches top-rated local contractors, and manages the project start to finish. Sealed covers the upfront costs, and we’re accountable to impact: if we don’t cut energy waste, we don’t get paid.

Sealed is venture backed, with investments from Cyrus Capital, Fifth Wall, and Footprint Coalition (Robert Downey Jr.). Sealed is one of Fast Company’s top ten most innovative energy companies of 2021. Based in New York City with a remote-first work environment, Sealed was also featured as one of Inc. Magazine's 'Ventures that Embody the U.N.‘s Sustainability Goals'. Learn more at sealed.com.

What will you do?

As a member of Sealed’s software engineering team and as part of Connected Solutions, you will have a unique opportunity to build world-class software for a Series B, Clean-tech, company. You will work with an exceptional team of product and engineering leaders to develop on top of a proven service-oriented architecture (GCP / Python).  We are creating exciting applications that make it easy for homeowners to reduce energy waste, eliminate carbon emissions, and fully electrify. The software you create will allow Sealed to scale to millions of homes.

Your north star is creating the best platform to collect data from thousands of homes as we scale throughout the country as efficiently as possible. You will be in the thick of everything building the systems to deploy, configure and manage an ever-expanding fleet of devices and systems to deliver the data that our company depends on. In order to meet this challenge, you will work closely with product managers and other business stakeholders to prioritize development and determine the best strategies to maximize business value. We work in an agile environment and we’ll look to you to create sprints based on business and technical infrastructure needs.

What success looks like:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you build the right things in the right way. With ample opportunity to work independently, you also collaborate with your delivery team to come up with the appropriate engineering solutions. You act as a team player and are not afraid to engage other members of the team to clarify specifications and business goals. You build trust with your team through active listening and proactive communication.

Most importantly, by working diligently and collaboratively, you create results. Your applications move metrics, delight customers, and improve the quality of homes and the environment.

You know that the pace of development accelerates with intelligent investments in infrastructure and documentation. You are a critical member of the Sealed Engineering department, which is a shining example of agile development best practices and empowering teams.

If you need a nudge, this is it. We recognize that some people are less likely to apply for jobs when they don’t meet all of the requirements. But here’s the reality: Rarely do candidates fulfill 100% of the requirements. You have value to offer yet maybe not the confidence to recognize it. Take a chance and apply!
