Job Description

The Center for EcoTechnology is looking for an Energy Consultant - Commercial Focus Field Based in MA to work with commercial and industrial customers to improve the energy efficiency performance and decarbonization of their facilities. The Energy Consultant is responsible for conducting audits that result in calculated estimated savings including weatherization and equipment and advising their customers on how to reach their energy efficiency goals. The Energy Consultant - Commercial Focus communicates their findings with customers and utility partners and educates the customers about the program offerings available to them. The Consultant documents their findings and motivates the customers to implement the recommendations and achieve sales goals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Energy Assessments: Conducts energy assessments of business and facilities and analyzes assessment data. Quantifies savings on weatherization and equipment and produces reports that document the recommendations. Completes the required number of assessments. 
  • Project Management: Remains up to date on the progress of all projects and deliverables, working with the sales team as appropriate. May locate industry contractors. Manages numerous projects simultaneously. Ensures that customer projects comply with appropriate utility program requirements to qualify for program incentives or rebates. Enters data generated by assessments into appropriate databases.
  • Sales and Relationship Development: Achieve sales by communicating to the customer the results of the energy assessment and recommended energy savings measures. Maintains ongoing relationships with customers for future opportunities. Pursues opportunities for similar assessments for customer's other facilities. Identifies and installs ISM's (Instant Savings Measures such as aerators, showerheads, thermostats, etc.) or schedules future installation dates.
  • Travels widely throughout Massachusetts. Maintains membership in appropriate industry trade associations and maintains ongoing professional development. Other duties as assigned.

What You Offer

Minimum 2-5 year experience working in a field related to energy efficiency, with at least 2 years of residential and/or commercial energy auditing experience. BPI Building Analyst certification preferred with CEM or other technical certification a bonus. Ability to learn utility rate structures and analyze usage patterns with strong skills in Excel. Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and use of reliable, registered, and insured vehicle. Driving to energy assessments required, using GPS to maximize efficiency.

 

Experience with selling technical services preferred with the ability to close on sales. Must be able to meet sales goals. Ability to make persuasive sales presentations. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be organized and have the ability to work independently. Work style should be flexible, reliable, self-directed, and have a proficient work ethic. Must have leadership skills. Reliable, hardworking, trustworthy. Passion for the environment, community involvement, and a desire to make a difference in a not-for-profit industry is a big plus.

 

You must be able to move throughout a location with entry to a variety of spaces. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders and use technical and scientific equipment. Frequent computer use required.
