Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

This role sits within the Smart Metering business unit working within the Smart Performance and Analytics team. The role focuses on supporting the Revenue Assurance team to reduce and maintain a revenue gap to an industry baseline.

The purpose of this role is to provide data analysis to understand our performance, highlight areas to focus on, as well as building reporting to monitor the performance. You will support in maintaining a backlog of work, and prioritising areas dependent on the demands of stakeholders.

This role will also play a vital part in the development and refinement of user stories, analysis of the outcomes from changes, validation of data and supporting the migration of data.

What will I be doing?

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Responsible for providing insightful data analysis and insights for the Revenue Assurance team, allowing us to understand root causes and focus areas
  • Work across stakeholders to help define user stories and their acceptance criteria, and manage backlogs and workloads across the team, strongly aligned to business strategies
  • Lead a team of both onshore and offshore data analysts 
  • Monitor work performance regularly and manage the teams velocity 
  • Coordinate the month end financial reconciliation, working with key stakeholders across the functions/value streams to explain variance & trends
  • Be point of contact, and lead on providing commentary and reporting around our performance across all stakeholders, including at exec level where required

Is this the job for me?

Essential skills and experience:

  • Good working knowledge of key MI tools including SQL Server, BigQuery & Tableau
  • Confidence in communicating significant data insights, confident in drawing out key insights to drive next action
  • Ability to resolve business challenges through value adding data insight
  • Strong experience in using data to make informed decisions and recommendations
  • Ability to operate, influence and collaborate at all levels
  • Experience of working in an agile environment 
  • Commercially astute, with a strong understanding of delivering value for the business needs
  • An independent thinker 
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring data analysts to make sure they reach their full potential 

Ideally you will have…

  • Deep understanding of smart metering systems for both SMETS1 and SMETS2 (DCC, Adapters etc.)
  • Deep understanding of drivers of gap and revenue leakage and methods to fix
  • Good working knowledge of tool such as Tableau or other data visualisation tools
  • A strong understanding of software development and system automation  
  • Experience working with complex systems\ large numerical datasets and full life cycle experience
  • A degree or equivalent qualification or experience in data analysis or related discipline
