To accomplish this mission, Rondo is deploying low-cost, zero-carbon Rondo Heat Batteries to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy and to significantly decarbonize industrial processes that are commonly thought of as "difficult-to-decarbonize". Our Heat Batteries charge from intermittent renewables to provide high temperature, continuous heat for customers safely, reliably, at an unprecedented 98% efficiency - and at a cost point that is lower than any other method.
We are looking for an experienced Manager of Mechanical Engineering who will lead a team that works closely with an internal team to develop product designs that meet performance, cost, and schedule specifications and design for manufacturability. They will oversee mechanical design and analysis and participate in the design and component/system specifications of components.

What You Will Do (key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to):
Own, lead and direct a set of mechanical engineering projects and people. Areas of specialization may include one or more high-temperature structure design, insulation, fluid handling, tooling development and analysis and simulations.
Be hands-on to deliver projects as needed, including designing components and systems, supporting the build of prototypes, components and systems, or other tasks.
Convert product requirements into technical specifications, and develop conceptual and detailed designs along with necessary risk assessments.
Lead or perform engineering analysis, prototyping and/or testing required to achieve roust and cost-effective solutions for the technology.
Lead and manage a variety of projects and personnel concurrently within timelines and budgets.
Participate in recruiting and hiring engineering talent.
Support the development of manufacturing processes and procedures
Develop specifications, working drawings, instructions and other related documents
Lead technical discussions and design review meetings
Collaborate with other disciplines to develop globally optimized solutions.
Report status and progress through written and oral means to management
What You Will Bring:
5+ years hands-on design engineering experience preferably from multiple industries and technologies
2+ years of management experience
Excellent oral and written communications skills
A BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related area.
Demonstrated creativity and out-of-the-box thinking through a proven track record of innovation and/or patent portfolio
Subject expertise in various mechanical engineering disciplines, specialized training or experience with high temperature materials is a plus
Fluency in Solidworks.
Ability to work in a team environment
Experience designing, operating and/or troubleshooting systems and materials such as refractories, ceramics and insulation, operating at high temperatures, thermal cycling and/or under high thermal stresses is a plus

The estimated salary range for this role is $150,000 - $200,000
