Legislative Intern - DC



Boundary Stone Partners (BSP) is seeking a highly motivated Legislative Intern to join our fast-growing team of transportation, climate, clean energy, and space experts in Washington, D.C. for the Summer (June 1st - August 1st). This internship is hybrid, with the expectation of being in the DC office approximately three days a week and accompanying BSP staff to meetings on Capitol Hill. Compensation will be $20/hour, along with transit benefits.

What You Can Expect to Do and Learn this Summer


The Legislative Intern will support BSP’s team in research, client support, and government affairs engagement with leading companies, non-profits, and trade associations, in the clean energy and building decarbonization industries. Core responsibilities and opportunities include:


  • Working closely with Senior Vice Presidents and Director of Federal Affairs to develop, track, and execute Congressional advocacy strategies for clients 
  • Monitoring Congressional committee hearings, briefings, and staff announcements
  • Preparing for and attending meetings with Congressional and Administration staff
  • Developing best practices in conducting legislative and policy research
  • Sharpening writing skills through multiple opportunities to draft memos related to legislative and Administration activity
  • Supporting administrative tasks related to lobbying and advocacy, including drafting emails, compiling meeting materials, and scheduling meetings
  • Depending on experience and interest, providing input into policy initiatives and policy design
  • Attending virtual Agency listening sessions, briefings, and coalition meetings related to building decarbonization, and providing both internal and external readouts
  • Tracking Administration actions relating to building decarbonization and reporting out internally and to clients
  • Drafting memos on Administrative and Congressional actions for building decarbonization clients


About you

  • Enrolled in or recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate degree program in public policy or related field
  • Strong interest in bipartisan advocacy and professional lobbying
  • Interest in domestic clean energy deployment and supporting private sector innovation as a means to mitigate climate change
  • Ability to work in the Washington, D.C. office a minimum of 30 hours per week, but up to 40 hours per week
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Strong communication abilities
  • Experience with Google platforms
  • Time management and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced office environment with flexibility in day to day tasks
