Alga Biosciences is a fast-moving startup on a mission to transform the agricultural industry. Our goal is to eliminate methane produced by enteric fermentation. Methane is a small, energy-rich molecule with 86x the warming potential of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere over the next 20 years. Global livestock account for 14.5% of total anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions, and cattle are the primary emitters via enteric fermentation.

We intend to make a dramatic impact on global methane emissions by stopping cattle from burping methane. We are collaborating with cattle-owners, ranchers, and scientists to do this in the fastest, cheapest, and most scalable way possible.

The Job

Our Director of Logistics & Manufacturing will have senior experience implementing and overseeing high-volume manufacturing, managing supply chain logistics, and ensuring meticulous regulatory compliance and quality and control standards. As a foundational member of the Logistics and Manufacturing team you will be responsible for developing a high-performing department while we continue to scale and multiply our manufacturing capacity.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a global production and supply chain, including identifying and securing contract manufacturers, coordinating third-party transport logistics, managing customs and import/export processes.
• Coordinate and manage external logistics and supply chain partners.
• Coordinate with our regulatory team to identify and secure compliance testing.
• Ramp up bench-scale processes to production scale manufacturing.
• Ensure production manufacturing deadlines are met.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in process engineering for food and feed applications, designing and developing warehouses and factories, managing onshore and offshore supply chains, and large-scale commodity sourcing.
• Robust network of contacts in logistics, shipping, and commodity sourcing.
• Either remote or in-person (Berkeley, CA) options are available for this position.
• Work authorization in the United States (required).
