About the Role

As we continue to grow and evolve our services to an API-first SaaS model, the Tech team needs detail-oriented guidance and organization to meet expanding customer needs. The Technical Project Manager role ensures SmarterX can meet tech roadmap commitments and launch integrations with our customers’ mission-critical systems.

The right candidate will be able to connect the Tech team with Product and Operations providing project updates, strong planning and cross-team coordination, risk identification and mitigation, and a solid understanding of business needs for future development. This person will be most valuable if they can quickly become knowledgeable in product features, dependencies, and statuses and serve as the communication hub between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

While this is a temp-to-hire role, covering for Maternity Leave (minimum 5 months), there will be an opportunity to transition to a permanent position for the right person who demonstrates strong performance and value to the team.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Act as Scrum master for 2 teams, running the day to day execution for the team, knowing what work is in motion and whether it is on track or behind 
  • Facilitate scrum ceremonies and other project/feature meetings using strong problem solving to dissect and synthesize issues to lead the discussion,  document the path forward, and follow up on action items in order to help the team connect the dots and work through implementation and requirements questions/issues
  • Understand and track Tech team sprint boards/tasks in Jira to identify and push delinquent/problem tasks
  • Help plan sprints and set priority within teams based on quarterly initiatives and commitments
  • Serve as communication hub for scrum team and stakeholders with information on sprint status, blockers and developer skill sets to mitigate barriers, drive projects and meet sprint commitments
  • Escalate risks and slippages to management early and often
  • Manage capacity planning and resource allocation, timelines, and risks for sprints, projects and cross-team dependencies
  • Triage bugs and support tasks requiring cross-team troubleshooting

Your Experience + Skills:

  • 3+ years technical project management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, or related field preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to break down systems into key components 
  • Growth mindset and willingness to ask questions preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Proficient in Scrum and Kanban processes, SDLC, and project management platforms 

Compensation: equivalent to annual salary between $90,000 - $120,000 based on experience (note that benefits do not apply during the contractor period)
