 Senior Director / Vice President, Digital Communities

Location: Oakland, CA - remote eligible

Type: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)  

Min. Experience: Senior Level

Salary: $126,500 - $187,500 (Senior Director) and $179,500 - $236,500 (Vice President), plus benefits and equity.

Position

GreenBiz Group has an exceptional track record in building community. Every year, our events and peer networks bring together thousands of private and public sector professionals working to confront the climate crisis. To scale this work and offer additional forms of support to our audiences, we’re creating a new digital home for professional communities working in sustainability. 

We are currently seeking an experienced product manager and community builder to lead this effort. This is an opportunity to play a central role in building a team and a product with the potential to transform how climate and sustainability professionals interact and to become a key driver of growth for GreenBiz Group. 

The successful candidate will work with the company’s Chief Technology Officer and SVP Product and Content to scope, design, develop, launch and grow the community, which we will host on Gradual.

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Understand user goals and associated product features.
  • Define strategy for building communities on Gradual, including integrating existing GreenBiz peer networks into the platform.
  • Work closely with our Chief Revenue Officer to develop and refine the revenue model for the platform.
  • Help build the team who will manage the communities, including a community manager and a content creator.
  • Work closely with the team to facilitate the day-to-day growth of our communities on Gradual.
  • Manage processes and schedules for deploying the different features offered by Gradual and evaluating use by our communities.
  • Develop and track success metrics for the platform.

The ideal candidate has 

  • A track record of bringing new products to market, including products for digital communities.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead product and community teams.
  • An intuitive sense for product design and community building.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners and drive excellence in development, design, UX and testing.
  • Strong attention to detail with proven project management, time management and multitasking skills.
  • Experience collaborating with teams in content creation and revenue generation.
  • A commitment to tackling the climate crisis. 
  • Exceptional communication with strong speaking and interpersonal skills.
  • An ambitious, creative personality, with a can-do attitude and an ability to learn quickly.
  • Flexibility in a constantly evolving environment.

This successful candidate will report to the SVP Product and Content. Beyond the responsibilities outlined below, additional duties may emerge as business needs for this position evolve.

Overall compensation (base salary + discretionary bonus) for this role will be provided commensurate with years of experience and qualifications within the following range: $126,500 - $187,500 (Senior Director) and $179,500 - $236,500 (Vice President), plus equity in GreenBiz Group and health and wellness benefits. The decision to hire at the Senior Director or VP level will be based on the candidate's skills and experience.
